For an otherwise slow Giants news day - in a fan poll conducted by NJ Advanced Media, the top choice for the #2 pick by the fans answering the poll was Barkley:
46% - Barkley
31% - Trade down
12% - Rosen
7% - Darnold
(Let's face it. More than half of BBI will be pissed no matter which player the Giants take.)
And it doesn't even make sense. I could see people being pissed we didn't get our next QB when we had the #2 pick. But pissed we didn't take a RB at #2!?!? Yikes!

Not sure what doesn't make sense to you. There have been plenty of threads lately advocating that the NYGs take Barkley. If they don't, some will be pissed.
(I won't be one of them because I prefer Rosen or Darnold.)
I think trading back can completely change your roster and depth chart. Drafting a QB is a nice way to solidify the QB position 1-3 years down the road.
Drafting Barkley helps the offense immediately and changes out team for the next 2-4 years.
Trading back and getting Neslon and multiple 2nd round picks from Cleveland ( assuming they want to get Darnold and Barkley ) can change our roster for years. This is a great draft for RB, OL, LB and those are all needs of NYG
If the Giants take Barkley at 2, I'm going to throw up.
I think Barkley is fantastic, so it's not personal to him, but as discussed here many times, with all the Giants needs, QB being pretty high up there, and with the depth of rbs in this draft, taking a QB at 2 would be devastating.
If anything trade back and take Nelson, but rb would be tough to stomach.

Though the top choice should definitely be top choice. I wouldn't even trade back for Nelson, but if they did trade back. I'd prefer Nelson to Barkley if no QB.
Yes, there are a lot of backs but most of them seem better suited for a committee. That's fine if you want to go in that direction but don't discount what Barkley would do for this offense.

You're not wrong, Barkley is outstanding. Him mixed with a better o line would do wonders for our offense and we'd be much better next year.
However, having the rare #2 pick, with a 37 year old QB, and really good QB class in my opinion, it would be a killer to not take advantage of this opportunity.

I totally agree. The problem to me is I am not sold on these QBs. There is a lot to like about Darnood but he is so raw and I am not a fan of QBs needing to learn a lot at the NFL level. I have beem watching a lot of game videos lately and Darnold has thosd wow moments but he bails from the pocket too often (granted his OL is pretty bad) and he misses so many throws. I am just not crazy about him.
In theory, yes, take the QB. However, this is a weird year with these QBs.

YOU DONT DRAFT NEEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
YOU DRAFT BPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Barkley is LaDanian Tomlinson. You don't want that on our team for the next 4-7 years???!!!
These Anti-Barkley people are so short sighted... Â
You act as if there is going to be no free agency and no other player movement at all. The biggest criticism of taking Barkley is that 1). the offense has been bad and 2). our offensive line stinks.
Do you really think that DG is going to do nothing to bring in new and better bodies on the oline this offseason? On top that you don't think we can find good quality offensive lineman later in the draft? Any GM worth his salt can find decent to good lineman later in the draft. Our oline from the SB runs were not taken in the first round.
Second, yeah the offense has been bad. I'll even grant you that Eli hasn't been great but that doesn't mean you draft a QB just because. This QB class in the top tier does not scream anything but bust outside of maybe Darnold. This is not even close to the QB class that came out in 2004. On top of that part of that "offense has been bad for years" equation is the fact that our RB's have been piss poor. I don't care if we have the 1960's Packers offensive line Gallman/Darkwa are not special players. Barkley has been compared to LaDanian Tomlinson. How much do you think teaming a player like that to OBJ, Sheppard and Engram will go to improve the offense?
Everyone thought Dak Prescot was a great thing until he didn't have Zeke and we saw that he is average at best on his own. You don't think that Barkley would help Eli's play?
If you don't want to draft Barkley because you feel that Rosen or Allen or Mayfield are the next John Elway thats one thing. But don't tell me we HAVE to draft a QB early and don't tell me that trading back if Barkley is there is a smart move.
Sorry you don't pass over special players just to get an extra 2nd round pick.
They don’t win the division and he can’t chill. He could chill if they drafted Barkley, but then he couldn’t be drafted. I wish he could chill though; I’d really like to see him get the 2.5 years for his pension.
Giants ain't wining no division next year folks. Â
Let's get serious here: Eagles are the champs and we ain't nothing but chumps.
Deal with that for 2 or 3 more years until NYG get their collectives act together.
These things change on a dime and we just saw it last year. The Giants offense is a completely different animal with OBJ in the lineup and Gettleman will fix the line. It doesn't have to be a top five OL. The defense has talent and Bettcher is a huge step up from Spagnuolo, not to mention what a Giant leap it is from McAdoo to Shurmur. Having a good year in the health department will be key, but that's the case every year and that's true for every team except the Patriots.
their future QB and sit him for a year. The Chiefs made the playoffs last year. The Giants just need to use ONE draft pick for their future QB. There is no reason they still can't draft good players to help them win in 2018 if they go QB with the #2 pick.
If the Giants take Barkley at 2, I'm going to throw up.

Let's assume for the moment that Barkley is a HoF RB. And let's assume Darnold is there and he's ... Matt Ryan or Andy Dalton. Who is more impactful to a team? I'm not entirely sure.
Thats a no brainer. I take the HOF RB over Matt Ryan or Andy Dalton. Ryan and Dalton are good starters but give me the special guy over the good player any day of the week.
I am 100% confident that if Barkley is anywhere near what he appears to be and what people project him to be the offense, and Eli, will improve dramatically.

The offense is going to improve dramatically with or without him.
If there were 1-2 definitive QBs that we were confidant would be top tier (Rodgers, Brees, etc.) we would not be having this discussion. All the QBs have some question marks. That is what makes it difficult to assess.
I would want to know what the 2019 class looks like.

And this.
I’m prepared for a 6-10 or 5-11 2018.
Another top 10 pick is a good thing people.
Life’s too short to hope they have another shitty year...sorry but in today’s NFL the bus turns around very quickly with the right decisions made. QB should absolutely be priority if that guy is the one you want (which I think he will be)...
But it doesn’t mean that we have to take a QB and suck another year to build a future.

I don't know. I think these "quick turnarounds" are because most teams are in that 6-10 win range that can fluctuate due to injuries, bounces of the ball, etc. A small group of teams are above that and a small group are below that.
The Giants right now are below that level. Beckham is the only guy on our team that would guaranteed be a starter on Philly. That's how huge the gap is.
(Let's face it. More than half of BBI will be pissed no matter which player the Giants take.)

most mocks have 5 QBs going in the top 15.
the giants pick 2nd
and most fans on here are saying we should trade down or draft an OL or an RB?
what the hell are people smoking on here

Bad QB play? Try Bad offense...for two years.
To say “the QB play has been bad for years” in a vacuum makes it look like you’re the one that’s smoking something.

If there was a real strong possibility that a franchise guy was there at #2, we d all be on board, correct?
Trying to be open minded, but having a hard time understanding opposition to this position.
