if you are forcing me to pick between Fluker and Jerry to start at RG, i am going with Fluker and wont think twice.
with a serviceable tackle next to him his pass pro wont be as big of an issue (if barkley is the pick at #2 pass pro is not our concern). Even with that, I think it is fair trade off in order to get his physicality in the run game, especially if we stick with undersized jones at C and bring average sized pugh back for a T spot.
He should be what John Jerry should have been... the 6th man on the OL... can play either guard spot or RT in a pinch... he should not be the starter on paper going into the year but he would be a very serviceable back up
Outside of a few players on each team, all players have strengths and weaknesses. I like Fluker. He played well, did really well on the run blocking and was ok pass blocking, and worked hard.
RE: Teams need guys like Fluker - not every player will be an All-Pro Â

He is a terrible pass blocker. I have never seen a guard get beat so badly on stunts in all my years of watching football. He will get Eli killed eventually.
Fluker wins hands down. His warts are not as bad as some on BBI would like everyone to believe. Plus if the team can impose a successful power running games, they will control the LOS and dictate the flow of the game. Teams will stunt less when they have to play run first, and when DLs are worn down.
He showed some flashes last year and I like his heart and mind but I don't think he did enough to get more than another 1 year deal. I think we paid him 1m last year so maybe bring him back with a small raise? Don't think he is on too many other teams wish list.
Fluker isn't very talented in pass pro.
He did a solid job last year....and if they're going to try to run the ball...he makes alot of sense to have.
If they don't resign him, they could end up with Norwell and Quenton Nelson as their guards....that wouldn't upset me.

Fascination? Wouldn't call it that and he clearly only mentioned the run for a reason

Run Block - Fluker
Combine them and the Giants have a Pro Bowl guard.
John Jerry is better at pass blocker and average run blocker.
Fluker, is a way better run blocker and absolutely terrible pass protector.
Personally I would use the Jerry. He won't get a QB killed.

I suppose those are both systems that require types of linemen over and above just huge and strong.
Great balance. Coach ability. Timing, ability to coordinate with teammates.
Either way. We get more specific run blocking.
this pocket pass, pocket pass, Delay draw in 11... holy fuck please no.more.
