This move doesn't worry me one bit. He is turning 33 years old and declining over the last couple of years. Just had his lowest PFF grade since 2010 this season.
How the hell does this work with their cap situation? Right now they are 10mil above the salary cap. Even if they cut Curry, Torrey Smith, Kendricks, and Celek they will still have only 5 mil in cap space. They could also cut Peters, but that would be dumb of them IMO.
Lol this site is losing it collective mind. Guy literally played for free this season donating his paychecks to charity, but I have a feeling I know why you think he's a "scumbag"
better than anyone else in the NFL, IMO. Why are we alergic to making trades? Only trades we ever make are for fringe players and 7th round picks.
Current regime is strapped with shit players so not sure about trades. Trading pick positions might be a better gauge. Flowers would be nice to deal if anyone would take him and I personally wnat Apple gone. He was a bad pick where we got him and I have zero belief he will ever change his poor game play habits.
the Giants take Chubb if they aren't going QB. Then hope Guice or Jones make it to pick 34. Sign Norwell, draft an OT like Brian O'Neill or Desmond Harrison in R3.
Chubb, Snacks, Tomlinson, Vernon, JPP, Okwara is a potentially dominant run stopping and pass rushing unit that is similar to that Eagles group.
Barnett, Jernigan, Cox, Graham, Bennett... Am I missing something here? Are all of these guys really going to be on the field for Philly in 2018? Cox has a big deal and he is the real deal, hes going no where. They just gave Jernigan a big deal. Barnett they just drafted 14th overall a year ago. They just traded a draft asset for Bennett who himself is highly paid. Graham wants a big deal and is going into his final year of his current contract... Maybe Graham is the odd-man out... hope so for our sake. I think he might be the best of the bunch right now.
Seattle was most likely going to trade or release him before his roster bonus of $4M was due on 3/18. So they actually did a decent job of getting something in return. He's coming off of an 8.5 sack season and Pro Bowl appearance but he's 32 years old and had $8.4M, $8.7M, and $10M caps hits the next three years. I think the Eagles only have to pay him his salary of $1.6M in 2018 (and maybe his per game bonus that could earn another $1M). His salary jumps up tp $6M in 2019 and $7.5M in 2020 but neither is guaranteed and I'm sure they would either cut or restructure him before that.
saying "Oh now the Giants NEED to draft Quenton Nelson". Like Dave Gettleman is going to change his entire draft strategy and take a guard 2nd overall now because the Eagles traded for a declining 33 year old DLineman.
He’s going to cut Curry who is better than Bennett at this point, not be able to resign Bradham or Robinson. Plus, Long is rumored to be retiring.
They also have to resign and extend Brandon Graham.
This is a net negative for the Eagles.
Building on a strength is good business. I'd hesitate to knock Roseman considering he's the architect of a 13-3 Eagle team that just won two home playoff games and a Super Bowl despite losing his quarterback in season. This Eagle team was better than anything the Giants have put together in a long time.
And this moves really burns. So many other teams could of made this move, but didn't. If we have learn anything from the super bowls the Pats have lost is defense wins championships and it is key. Dline is key to beating the Pats and other tip offenses. The Eagles realize this and want to keep this going. The Eagles have been really stepping up in the off season and have been making great moves. They did it last season too. Eagles want to keep this going and are doing whatever it takes, you have to give the props. This move makes that dline scary. Not good.

Teams don't have to be below the salary cap until 4:00pm, March 14th. Between now and Mar-14, I would expect that the Eagles will be cutting a few players to get below the cap. Key NFL Dates for 2018 - ( New Window )
a lot of very smart moves over the last few years, this one puzzles me.
Bennett is not what he once was, and has not been able to avoid the injuries in recent years. The thing with the Vegas police is warning sign as well. Not to call a 7th round pick a throw away pick, but I wouldn't trade a 5th round pick for a 32 year DE, especially Michael Bennett.

I really hope they get this OL fixed soon.
It comes up quite a bit, they just referenced it on NFL Live
Eagles on the thread about the cap were $9M over the cap.
And Bennett has I believe a transferable $5.5M cap hit.
The Eagles would theoretically be 14M over the cap. Not sure what cap hit the guy they sent back has.

Curry will save them 6

Was it necessary to type that out
Probably not necessary, but he's not entirely wrong either
This one is no different

Seriously, what is wrong with people?
If he takes Nelson, it better be in a trade down.

Hopefully his endless political rants become a distraction to the defending champs...
Adding a 33 year old Michael Bennett doesn't move the needle much for me.

Give me a break - I got here late.
