Salary Cap Explained
BigBlueinChicago : 3/7/2018 4:17 pm : link
NFL revenue taken in (this case 2017): $12,340,800,000.00

Owner cut off top: $1,000,000,000

Remainder: $11,340,800,000.00

50% Owners/50% Players: $5,670,400,000.00

Divided by 32 teams: $177,200,000.00

--

A poster asked last week why the salary cap can't just simply be increased to allow teams to sign players up for deals on their team. The cap is calculated by the revenues the league takes in for the year.

Thanks for the succinct explanation of the cap. Never understood the calculation mechanics quite so well.

Appreciate it!
