They are built around Wilson, and they can retrench around him, free up cash. They are also a prime trade down candidate as they pick 18th and then don't pick at all until the 4th round.
Could be something to watch in the draft as spot to move up for some team.
Sorry - posted before I read the article. Obviously a money move ...14 million against the cap.
Seems like the numbers we read about in these contracts mean nothing (except the guarantees?). The players never seem to last the entire length by the time management is done.

Yea your right. He lost his number 1 and 2 wr in Bennett and Sherman lol. Wilson has carried that team for years. The dumb move was trading unger for jimmy G. That’s where I pinpoint the end of the Seahawks era

Total contract numbers are have been irrelevant for years. Almost all contracts have a way for the team to get "out" of it after a few years. Even "guaranteed" #'s are sometimes deceptive. B/c some of those guarantees may not take effect till a certain date. Which gives the team the ability to get out before those guarantees impact the cap.

That’s spot on. Seattle brass thought they could patchwork an oline with castoffs and big guys off the street. And cross their fingers that the Tom Cables of the world could take that chicken sh-t and make chicken salad.
I don’t like Russell Wilson’s game - because there is a real luck element to it, the way just throws these deranged moon balls up in the hair basically praying for a miracle catch or flag - but his ability to extend plays when he gets no pocket time is incredible...
Apparently they are open to trading him
And they are also open to bring Sherman back if he doesn’t strike a large deal elsewhere
Or bust?

Definitely - especially if one the QBs slides.
Money and health concern I assume. Let me guess he goes to the Pats along with Talib
