From Mike Ortiz: Sources: With the addition of Jarvis Landry, an active Josh Gordon, two picks within the top 5, and cap space the Browns view themselves firmly in the mix for Kirk Cousins. Expect a meeting next week.
And that would mean Barkley #1 (probably regardless but this would cement that). That would be one scary offense

I think that makes a lot of sense.
I'd go Barkley first, then wait for Chubb or whomever.
While the media has ordained Kirk as the top FA QB, I can't help to wonder why Brees is getting the attention. While he and the Saints have said the right things publicly regarding Brees remaining a Saint, he still does not have a contract. His existing contract voids on March 14th. The NFL and the NFLPA have agreed that his agent can discuss a contract with other teams. It seems that if a team is willing to pay Kirk, they should do their due diligence and see what it would take to get Brees. Make an offer that the Saints can't compete with.
Well it was said he was deciding between the Jets and Vikings, maybe this move entices him more to CLE? Obviously if it’s just about money he wouldn’t rule anyone out.
However I will be very surprised if they should pass on Darnold or even Allen.
These guys are both big strong mobile guys with it arms, in the case if Allen very big.
Shurmur considers himself a quarterback guru
He has a quarterback who will turn 38 next season, and a 3rd round second year guy who never played
Just can't see him passing up the chance to set himself and the team up for the next decade plus
Foles would make more sense than Counsins.
mmm i disagree.. taylor is a bridge...i still think they take the qb of their choice. if they got cousins id 100% agree though
Exactly. The Browns will have to really overpay to get Cousins not to go to the Vikings or another team that could make the playoffs.
Not really, it means Darnold is the likely choice. McCarron said he didn't want to be a bridge QB when he signs with a team.

Tyrod traded to the Browns for a 3rd rounder. They’re definitely taking Saquon at 1 now.

Not sure how you can say Darnold is the likely choice. Even if Tyrod is a bridge, Cleveland will probably wait until #4 to pick a QB. I don't think they would've spent a 3rd just on a stopgap either.

A 3rd rd pick is really nothing compared to the total picks they hold. Why wait to 4 and miss out in their top choice?

No problem, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that. I'm pretty confident they'll select a QB at 1 and that's going to be Darnold.
(If they sign Cousins), to get a top-tier vet and avoid the possibility of a
monumental 1st round QB bust and (if they trade with us to walk off with the two best players in the draft - Barkley and their choice Bradley Chubb or Fitzpatrick ....
AND, they still have a ton more draft choices.
They are in one heck of a position (with their draft position and ammunition) to rape the draft board and with their cap money,( #2 in the NFL) , the Free agent market as well.
