Some general musing

The Draft QB Musical chairs. How does it fall out?

1. Cleveland: Barkley. They just can pass up the best player in the draft.

2. Cleveland: Allen. They have shown the willingness to move picks and the Giants just have too many holes!

3. Jets: Rosen. They are just desperate to get the most NFL ready QB in the draft.

4. Giants: Darold. They were ready to pull a massive trade with Buffalo but when their top choice was still available and now holding 3 of the top 4 2nd picks, they were ready to get their QB of the future.

5. Denver: Mayfield. Very happy to get the sponky QB, Elway's favorite.

6. Colts: Chubb. Very pleased to still get their top pick and all of the Jets picks.

.............

I have been very harsh on Reese due to never fixing the OL, but he deserve credit for the 2 Super Bowls under his watch. I get the vitral, but it was not all bad with Reese. I blames Reese for the OL, which has cost the Giants any chance of returning to the Super Bowl the last few years and hiring Ross who I never liked, nor trusted.

............

I like the Ogletree pick up just for the outside of the box thinking. I get he is not a perfect player and a little pricey but he is automatically, our best LB. No brainer to me.

...............

So how will DG fix the OL and who plays? Hopefully, the rumors are true and we get Norwell, which will limit any other big moves. No way, we get Solder. Looks like we are keeping Jones at Center. Did Wheeler show enough to man the LT? Does Flower deserve any spots? I do not want Jerry starting. Maybe Ja'Wuan James can come on the cheaper side (as he has been hurt)....to man the RT spot. I am sure we will be drafting OLmen....but can DG fix the OL in one season, something Reese could not do for 7!

............

so who gets cut? Vereen, Harris, Casillas,Marshall?

.............

If we can "fix" the OL.....I truly believe we can compete against anyone. The NFL do not have any Super teams. Hell, we sucked last year and still gave the Eagles fits.
I don't see Darnold being 3rd qb takin

If Giants like him then don't fool around and just take him at 2.

I do not think they traded Kizer just to take Josh Allen. I know they dealt for Tyrod Taylor, but Allen is somebody you really need to redshirt this year and has some of the same flaws that Kizer had coming out of Notre Dame. Darnold or Rosen could potentially be ready at some point later in the season (a la Kurt Warner and Eli Manning) if they do not want to throw a rookie QB to the wolves Week 1. I get that Kizer was drafted by the previous front office, but Dorsey and Wolf both come from the Green Bay school of thought that you can never have enough young QB's
First, Vereen and Cassilas are free agents

I would cut Marshall, Harris and Jerry.

Your draft scenario is pretty good. If we can acquire pick 33 & 35 we should expect at least 1 OL with one of those picks.

I think DG can get another staring OL in free agency, Hubbard or Fleming as a RT.
I can see arguments for all 4 of the top QB.

I do not know who the Giants like most if any

Cleveland just put a flag in the ground. Taylor is a one-year rental and they are taking a QB with the #1 pick or, if they are in love with Barkley, trade with the Giants to ensure they get Barkley and their top QB. The rookie will have a one-year learning period at most.

Make no mistake. The Browns are coming out of this draft with their top-rated QB. They cannot take Barkley at #1 and settle for whatever QB falls in their lap at #4. They control this draft and their top priority is getting their future QB.

The Browns are 100% staying at #1. The only question is if they try to move up to #2. Whether the Giants decide to play along depends on their thoughts on the QBs the Browns don’t take vs. the picks they will get.
If the Giants want a QB they won't trade down

That's a no brainer. In that situation, they'll take the QB they like at #2 and be happy as hell.

And we won’t have a clue until the first pick is taken. Cleveland controls the draft but if done right DG controls Cleveland. If he can figure out which qb Cleveland likes he can put the smoke out there that we will take him or trade with someone who will thus forcing their hand
Browns hold all the cards....

they would be idiots to not take Barkley. How much of a drop-off is there between Darnold, Rosen and Allen? We don't know. But the drop off between a Barkley and Michell or Chub is much greater IMO. Everyone knew PEnn State was going to run him and they still could not stop him. How much talk are you hearing from the Penn State OL? Exactly, that is my point. Can you name one OL from PSU besides the non blocking TE whole up combine? Exactly. Georgia had a slew of OL, RB and WR talent to spread it around. Their D was tops in CFB, so they got ball back to O more than any team in football which means more chances for Chub, Michell etc to shine. Barkley faced 8in box a lot and had to fight that week to week and still stayed healthy and produced at a high level. I hope Browns take a QB and we are left with Barkley, Allen or Darnold pick. Davis Webb is a very good QB. e is 6'5". 230, was 382/620, 4300 yards 37TD to 12 INTw/ pass rating of 135.6.... He had to face PAC12 twice a year a respectable division.

A Rodgers: 209/316 66% 2526 yards 24 td/8 int154.3 rating. Davis Webb ripped AR stats to shreds. Give him a chance. Take Barkley or Nelson at 2 and be done with it. Go get LT in FA if Q. Nelson at 2. Go get G Norwood in FA if Barkley at 2 its that simple.

Let's say Cleveland swaps with Giants...
Rafflee : 3/11/2018 8:43 am : link
Why are they Picking Barkley #1? They'd be leaving QB's on the Board who might be more valuablem trade chips for the Giants to deal with other vteams...and they are actually increasing their own cost to swap for that second pick with the Giants.

Clevelan has a SWamp of Picks...they traded for Tyrod as a place-holder. I don;t expect them to suddently thing they need to out-cute the absolutely awesome draft day scenario they have---I expect them to take a QB at 1.

A Massive trade with the giants to swap the 2nd and 4th picks plus 2 second rounders (along with next year's 1st??) to take Barkley at #2????? We've been debating merely Drafting a Back at #2. This trade would rival the Mike Lyyn trade for Hershel Walker--- look it up..... or Mike Ditka's trade of his entire draft board for Ricky Williams

I don't believe Cleveland will be that dumb, just to satisfy a Pack of Big Blue Homers.
If I'm the Browns
Rafflee : 3/11/2018 8:51 am : link
I'm taking a QB...then I'm sitting on the availability of Barkley, Nelso, Chub, etc at the 4th....along with the 2 second round picks.

It's a Draft Orgy, and I don't believe they're gonna trade out of that scenario.

You can't get cute with the QB position, you build a team around a qb, not so much a rb. Good news for us is that the top 4 qbs all have different plus/minuses, and so it's likely Cleveland has a shine for one of them. "Worst case scenario" is Cleveland takes a qb Giants front office loves, and we have to "settle" for Barkley.
