I mean, look - this team has won ONE time in their last 32 tries.
Think about that.
It's clear that the entire thing needs to be completely revamped and that what was there was nothing but a recipe for major failure.
Some of the things Dorsey is doing may not pan out, but the bottom line is that the Browns franchise has been downright pathetic for a long time and they're not going to get anywhere by making small scale moves.
Major, major shakeup was needed there and that's exactly what he's doing. It's time to change the culture.
not surprising that a new GM would make a lot of moves with a bad team. We could see a somewhat lesser version of that by DG in just a few days. The Giants are not perennially bad like the Browns, but were still had the worst season in franchise history last year.
Is Dorsey trying to be Kevin Costner from draft day? Â
I think he’s making good moves. Hasn’t been done there in ages.
I'm not saying one way or the other, time will tell if these are good moves or not. He inherited a great deal of capital in terms of draft picks and salary cap space (and in Shelton and Kizer, young talent), but that doesn't mean spend like a drunken sailor.
But thought Shelton would be worth a bit more in return.
Don't forget about Emmanuel Ogbah from the other DE position across from Garrett, although Chubb could be a possibility. If they keep their picks, they should have a lot of good options at DT early in the 2nd round as well.
I believe Shelton to be a pretty good player but you make a move like this for 2 other reasons: attitude problem or scheme fit.
As far as drafting another DE, Cleveland has Ogbah, Nassib and Garrett. It is possible but I would think they would go DB
That’s what I was thinking because if not this is overkill it has to be scheme or culture .....all Dorsey had to do was make a few moves and with all the picks they have plus 1 and 4 in the 1st round ,I thought they had a pretty good roster .....hmmmmm
RE: Another wasted first round pick by the Browns Â
Will thrive in NE he will play a limited role 1st and 2nd downs but the key is goes to a winning team. Now many say he sucks average 40 tackles NT a year but for some reason Devon Kennard averages 50 tackles year but he is good?

Or just the opposite.

31 teams supposedly trying to 'kill the beast', then some/many of them feeding the beast.
You can't fix STUPID!
Again, I don’t get it. I thought Shelton had played well.

In his press conference or just after he said this team lacks real players. Getting rid of who he considers dead weight and bringing in his guys!

I just heard on NFL Radio that the Browns had 10 first round picks from 2009 to 2015. That's seven drafts. None remain on the roster.
Giants get #4,33,35,unknown additional pick(s), and NE 3rd rd from the Shelton trade.
:-).
