Day one impact on trade down scenario's

wgenesis123 : 3/12/2018 6:40 pm
So far I see Vikings interest in Drew Brees says whats up with Kirk Cousins? I have to wonder if Vikings interest in Brees is real or a ploy to real in Cousins at a more realistic price. If Brees does jump into the fray it really scrambles the eggs. Than we have Buffalo and Cinn. with the Cordy Glen trade swapping first round picks. It really looks like Buffalo is making a play for a possible trade up to get one of the top three QB's. Anyone see anything else?
Dear lord...

If we come out of this draft without a blue chip prospect, Giants Management failed.

A trade down to 5 is bearable, if the return is wealthy. Anything beyond that is being too cute.
Stay the fucking course at 2

No need to get pretty. I don't understand the logic of moving? Why give up a chance at a blue chip prospect for more picks? I think the only argument should be wether we pick a qb or pick Barkley. Not how far down we can move.
Brees has been with Saints

since 2006. He's 39 and his usual TD production really fell last year.

Right or wrong, posters want to trade down seeing many holes in the roster. Staying put we can address 4-5.
I would be happy to see the Giants come out of this draft with Barkley
wgenesis123 : 3/12/2018 7:08 pm : link
but that may not happen and there will be other options. Also I think if someone offers the kings ransom with Barkley on the board the Giants will have to consider their options. I still kind of hope they take Barkley.

He had a running game. Didn't need to be a one man offense.
I hope we don't take a RB at 2

If there is no QB trade down to 4, 5 or 6 and still get a top prospect and picks. I can live with a bust at QB but not at RB. Too many Giants picks are 1 contract players, we need a 2 or 3 contract player, we are not a RB away.
There's some talk that the Colts might be thinking a trade down...
GFAN52 : 3/12/2018 7:48 pm : link
if the Bills are moving up. Could have QBs go in the first three picks leaving Barkley to fall to the Browns at 4.
Trade with Buffalo
Reale01 : 3/12/2018 7:48 pm : link
Hard to turn down a trade with Buffalo that includes two 2018 1st round (12,22). 2 2018 second round, and a 2019 1st round.

If they offered that much.

That's harder to turn down than 21 & 22 plus the others, but I'd still rather have a top-10 pick.

My feelings exactly
Do people honestly think QB is not a need?
Sean : 3/12/2018 8:28 pm : link
All the teams who people want to trade down with are teams who need a QB, yet we are in prime position already. Amazing how many people are in denial about the QB position.

Seen a lot of people around here think Eli has three years or so left.
I can live with Barkley at 2 or a trade down to 4 and get Nelson
Rjanyg : 3/12/2018 8:55 pm : link
But I think NYG is gonna sit at 2 and take a QB. I am if the thought that Eli has a couple good years left and needs a pro OL in from and a RB with the ability to make teams stack the line.

But I think DG can get his QB of the future if they don't want to gamble on Webb being they guy. Rosen seems like the best to replace Eli but I could live with Darnold.
If we plan to trade down,
George from PA : 3/12/2018 10:12 pm : link
I say trade back twice, with Cleveland and Buffalo.....and to be really cute, move back up to 7 and draft Nelson.

And have 4 2nd Rd picks, 2 3rd rd picks and next year Buffalo 1st plus the Giants 32nd pick

Giving Tampa the 12 & 34 and 5th
Darnold or Barkley
UberAlias : 3/13/2018 3:10 am : link
Forget the trade down silliness.

I like the way you think. That is not getting cute though, that would be orchestrating the draft. Cute would be forcing a QB at two because everyone knows you got to have a QB. Cute is assuming you can take something less at two and turn it into a fine wine when your not sure it will yield the grapes. Cute would be limiting your options with a closed mind.
Case Keenum to Denver takes Denver out of QB sweepstakes, Elway
wgenesis123 : 3/13/2018 7:19 am : link
seemed determined to not tie his wagon to another draft prospect. Denver is now more flexible, could take Nelson, could entertain offers to trade down, could grab Mayfield.
Norwell to Jacksonville
wgenesis123 : 3/13/2018 8:10 am : link
This may show that the only way the Giants are getting a quick infusion of talent to the o-line is to play the trade down game. Still think that Barkley may be a super-star and if he is there at pick two the Giants can no more pass on him than they could with Lawrence Taylor. Of course LT turned out to be better than advertised, hope Barkley can be too!
An o-line must have a mix of free agents and draft picks.
Ivan15 : 3/13/2018 9:01 am : link
Now the Giants don’t have much of either. DG’s talent has been in free agency. Let him work his magic for the next month before worrying about trade downs.
There is no magic! Trading down is not something you need to hide
wgenesis123 : 3/13/2018 10:56 am : link
from. Who is worried? Are you worried? Are you waiting for DG to sign the DJ Fluker's of this years free agency pool? I think we have traveled that road before.
