Huge indictment that despite major O-Line need, Giants aren’t eager resign Justin Pugh. From Voice in building ‘Never Giants Tough. Cares more about Barstool than his craft.’ An even bigger indictment would be if Jaguars weren’t interested and Pugh’s Agent had to call elsewhere.

"Cares more about Barstool"

Is Forbes saying Pugh cares more about partying than perfecting his craft?

Great, we're back to 'anonymous sources in the building'.

That was a fun time.

with that expression. Maybe it means just hanging out shooting the breeze?
No, he's talking about Barstool the media outlet
adamg : 3/12/2018 7:29 pm : link
And that rings true. Pugh does like the limelight.
We aren't interested because he hasn't stayed healthy
BillT : 3/12/2018 7:29 pm : link
Another team can give him a shot but we really can't. Too much negative history.
Source is saying Pugh likes to be talking in the media
adamg : 3/12/2018 7:30 pm : link
and not playing his heart out on the field. He's more than a little Schwartz-esque imo.
It's not his fault that....

his short arms are better suited for chugging beers.

Sometimes where you are drafted effects your career. Also, injuries can destroy the best laid plans. Pugh had both happen to him.

Yes I believe had he been drafted by a different team he might be entering fa under much different terms.

Looking back on Pugh's career, I can't help but think that something
Ten Ton Hammer : 3/12/2018 7:47 pm : link
was rotten with player development on this team even back when he was drafted,

People forget how solid he was as a rookie. It seemed like an excellent pick and the position was solved long-term.

Giant tough

Simply Not Worth Committing To

Whatever reputation he has of being 'decent' is because he plays on horrid OL. Reminds me of Sixteen Candles - Pugh is Anthony Michael Hall - 'king of the dipshits'. Let him go.

I think injuries derailed his promise. Even after coming back it seemed like he lost a step from the knee issues and he lost functional strength with the back and elbow injuries. Shit happens that may not be lack of coaching related.
Ugh. “Inside sources” should

shut the hell up. If you don’t want to resign him, fine, but no need to trash him on the way out.

Especially for employees that are too scared to put a name behind their comments. This team has been a wreck for half a decade. Nobody should be throwing around terms like 'not Giants tough' when this franchise has failed on so many levels, from front office to on-field. Everyone needs to wear that and shut up.

I'd prefer that whoever said this didn't say it - this is the type of stuff that was getting out before the regime change that really should be kept in-house.

That said - I think it's accurate and that there's truth to it.

Pugh doesn't strike me as a guy who has the same "want to" that some others have and I think it's fair to question whether he's worth the type of contract he's going to get.

I think he's 100% a goner.

take less showers and start a few fights during games.

And showing up to play every Sunday would be helpful...

I always liked him.

Good luck with your next team.
it's 100% true

Kyle Long Was The Next Pick

Working through some injuries now, but 3X Pro Bowler and 2-
time 2nd team All-Pro. Safe to say Reese botched that pick
I liked Clawfin way more than Jerry Reach
Coach Red Beaulieu : 3/13/2018 6:17 am : link
But I think Coughlin is to be blamed for the Syracuse/BC guys.

Either way, definitely a major desperation reach pick, many of us said it at the time.

I just hope he doesn't carry a flask!
I bet he will have a 'designated blocker' so he can
continue to enjoy the barstool and get $12 million
per year.
I never like

questioning someone's heart, especially if I don't know them. That said, Pugh does seem to like the sound of his own voice.

The O-line was a damn disaster last year.

You had Hart and maybe Flowers who's attitude was detrimental to the unit.

Where was Pugh in all this? If you're gonna shell out a nice contract to someone, they need to be a leader in the locker room
I don't like this kind of behind the back talk either.
Victor in CT : 3/13/2018 8:21 am : link
But I do think it says alot that the JAGS went after Norwell and not Pugh.

I don't think Pugh is a good player at all. That he can't stay on the field just compounds it.

Agree with you guys. I’m fine moving on from Pugh...no need to trash him to prove the Giants are right.
It's time for change

Seems like he was mentored by Geoff Schwartz :-)

Plays little, talks a ton.

Agree more with that assessment.
