I put together a list (see below) of New York Giant Drafts since 1981. The list consists of players picked from Round 2 and up. The list consists of players that IMO are/were serviceable NFL players that pretty much could have played on any NFL team and would have been decent.
I may have missed a couple of guys, however, IMO, when drafting, there are certain parameters that should be paid attention to. Keep in mind, nothing is exact and a lot of this is opinion based, however, a couple of things I noticed from past drafts
Interior offensive Lineman: As much as I love Quenton Nelson, under NO CIRCUMSTANCE should we draft a guard this high in the first round, I just don't like it. If you look at my list below from 1981, there are a whole bunch of guards drafted by the Giants after round 2 that were above average. I could care less how much of a fuss scouts are making of Nelsons mauling ability and driving defenders down the field. If there was a LT that was worth the pick, that would be understandable, however there isn't. I don't like converting guards to tackles in the NFL, if that's the case, he would've been a LT in college and he wasn't
If we stay at 2, either draft a QB or a play maker with speed/Pass Rushing ability. I don't see a WR/CB/Linebacker in this draft worth the 2nd overall pick, Pass Rushing Defensive End would be the choice, it's not a hard one
Big body run stoppers can be had later down the road after round 2, see list. Everyone is going GaGa that the Pats got the best of Cleveland with the trade from the other day, guys like Danny Shelton can be had up and down the draft board. Is Shelton slightly better then someone drafted in the 3rd or 4th round, possibly. However he just wasn't worth that high of a pick IMO
Running Back, I prefer running backs from the ultra athletic SEC. Saquon Barkley would be a horrible horrible pick for the value he represents with the 2nd pick. I'm not saying he isn't one of the better backs, however, Giuce is a fantastic runner and I bet can be had in the end of the first round, maybe even fall to round 2. I can't see any kind of a loss going with Giuce
Safeties and Cornerbacks: Again, it just seems like the fastest and best athletes come from the SEC all around (especially safeties and Cornerbacks). Not even sure that I put Corey Webster on my list, however, he was decent. I do like the Alabama CB, though I'm not saying he's worth the #2 pick, a trade down and snagging him in the top 10 can be reasonable.
Thumping Linebackers can be had in the middle rounds as well, if there is a mobile MLB early, that is fine. However, I prefer outside linebackers later on if possible
Bottom Line: You just can't teach speed and athleticism. If Quarterback isn't the #2 pick, it needs to be a playmaker, not a running back though (see list below)

Other than Parcells hating him, I thought he had a decent career. I'm not certain of the stats, however, if memory serves correct, he was clutch on more then one occassion
Sheikh had a career 68.5% mark, was 3 for 11 above 50 yards and 18-33 between 40 and 49 yards. In his 3 seasons as the primary kicker, he missed 8 XP's, where there were 14 kickers who didn't miss any in that time.
Don't know when he found time to make a clutch kick.
He was great for a team that habitually stalled at the 15 yd line :-)
It's not him, it's the position he plays. Giuce is the better option down the line
