Is it weird that it is quiet with respect to him? Or is he a guy that needs to wait for some of the other OL to choose their destination before the dominoes fall? I just figured there would be more info regarding some of these OL with basically two and a half days of the legal tampering period.
Plus coming off injuries I'd imagine teams want to see his medicals and I don't know if the rules permit NFL teams to see medicals until free agency actually starts.
I don't know about tanking against the Eagles angle, but I fear you are right they'll resign him [and overpay] and he'll continue to get hurt.
I can see him coming back if no one bites in the first 48 hours of FA and DG jumps in on Saturday or Sunday.
Of course we don't know about what's going on behind the scenes with every FA, just the ones that the agents want to leak news on.
The contract can always be structured to discount for games missed and still give him an appropriate amount for likely # games played...in other words a rental/ show us while his replacement is a draft pick.
Um no
Players are drawn from all kinds of places and most, hopefully, as really into football and have always been really into football. Which likely means that they grow up as avid fans of their local team. IMO, it's unreasonable to expect them to shelve all that when the end up playing for some other random team as their job. I expect them to overcome it when necessary because that's part of being a professional, but otherwise....Heck, we all live in different places and likely some of us are in the town of a different team. Yet, we're still Giants fans. Not rooting for a team is not part of the job requirement.

THIS!!!!
He just ain't that good. The injuries just make it worse.
Great analysis here. I guess they should not have picked Lawrence Taylor because he was a life long Cowboys fan AND grew up int the DC area.
I'd say he is decent enough to re-sign, but he needs to remain healthy and needs to get bigger IMO, to be a hog mollie!
Even Solder/Mewhort, or Solder/Su'a Filo would be decent
Can't stay healthy, isn't a physical player and has a big mouth. Solid pulling guard with the versatility to play different spots, but his barstool sports persona is what the mob is going to focus on. I don't understand why people don't understand.
He might not be in their palns regardless. Richburg, Pugh, fit that finsse athletic mold. Think they might be looking to get more physical. And, that's without even factoring in the injuries.
When is that? And no, he isn't. And even if he is, SO? That's like being the tallest man in Munchkin Land.
Flowers was better than him for most of the season. I don't know what happened at the end.

He's our best OL player.
Those two sentences contradict each other.
NO ONE on the Giants OL over the last few years has been a "damn good player." Pugh is merely a competent starter who's better than the crap he's been surrounded with on the Giants OL. He's never been within miles of pro-bowl consideration. His value is his versatility, but personally, I think he's been misused and playing out of position for most of his career.
That said, teams aren't beating down his door because he can't stay healthy.
Now that Solder is on board, if no other team bites on Pugh, I wouldn't mind seeing the Giants bring him back on an incentive-based contract that pays him more the more games he plays.
Probably unrealistic.
