The #AZCardinals are releasing versatile DB Tyrann Mathieu, source said. They tried to redo his deal but it wasnt to be. Keep an eye on the #Giants and his former defensive coordinator.

we have his old defensive coordinator and I got to believe he has a relationship with OBJ (two highly recruited players out of LSU that played at the same time).
would be an absolutely unreal safety combo. That secondary would remind me of the Seahawks in their prime. But he's gonna get huge money from someone so that won't be happening.

I'm not sure it's in the cards after the Solder signing, but he'd be a tremendous fit for us. We need a FS with some range that can cover the slot and play some dime backer. He'd probably be at the top of my free agent wishlist if he were available from the start. It wouldn't completely shock me if we were players though.

I read that as speculation based on the DC connection.
i mean ya....byt how many times do we see teams having connection to players and it working out? two of our signings were because of our coordinators...matheiu could be the third....
They could make it work but it would definitely take some manipulation. I think it would be safe to assume that we were selling out for a run if we signed him.
and already signing 2LBs would likely mean LC stays at SS in a down low in a 4-3 and LB in 3-4. and we draft an LB in rd 3-4 ...where today? our FO is looking at the LB from Vandy.

Doesn't "tanking" imply doing poorly on purpose? I don't know why you'd ask that or what the benefit would be. If there was any truth to it, Fitz would be gone in a minute. But I don't see any reason for optimism for next year. Bradford is not going to save the franchise. The OL is probably as bad as the Giants were last year, and without some upgrades Bradford probably won't last very long. They've got a good 2nd year TE, some good receivers, and the biggest question is whether dAvid Johnson can come back strong. Their D is ordinary other than Jones and Peterson, who I think is overrated. The kicking game sucks. And I liked Arians as HC. Don't know what we have there now or at DC. If they have an awful year, I think they will have earned it honestly.

Was a 1st team all-pro in 2015 but he got hurt in 2016 and I didn't quite see him re-gain his form this past year.

I have to admit I was shocked that DRC was released. If they sign the Honey Badger it may make perfect sense then why they did it.
