He can still learn behind Eli and if we are out of the playoffs, well, the Rosen era can begin with a couple starts to end the season.
Or some team calls us and gives us an amazing array of picks and players that we can't pass up. But this ONLY happens if we truly feel Eli has two more elite seasons in him AND Webb is solid in management's eyes.
That’s just talent. Folks fall in love with the arm strength and size etc and act like everything else is teachable. It’s not. The other QBs are likely never to develop the “polish” that Rosen has. It’s like assuming Flowers issues were all correctable technique. It takes talent to developer technical skills and Rosen has that above the others.
I would be happy with Rosen as the next QB. He’s probably the most NFL ready QB in the draft. I just don’t think that’s important on this team because we still have Eli for at least next season.
I truly believe Darnold, while not as NFL ready has a much higher ceiling. Darnold can create under pressure, while Rosen is more limited. I think a year of sitting and taking 2nd teams snaps would do wonders for Darnold and he can take over in 2019.

Browns seem enamored with Darnold.
The Giants just made a guy with 4 concussions on his scorecard Â
I have read a lot of varying opinions on Rosen
Some that are not complementary from draft analysts that I respect
So I went back to watch some of his games to see what I was missing
To my eye Rosen is going to be a great QB
He is polished has a great arm and is more athletic than given credit
Rosen plays in a pro style offense
He plays under center makes all of the drops makes all of the throws
The other thing I noted which I did not hear from the analysts is that Rosen is tough
He was beaten up and never backed down
His line was awful and Rosen was hit on most plays
I think that the negative reviews are either misinformation or due to a personal dislike for Rosen ‘s abrasive personality
I think that Rosen is the only QB that you can project to what he will be in the pros

It is almost all his personality, and it is a lot of typical petty amateur psychology nonsense. "His family is wealthy so he's soft". "He's stuck up" "he may quit football because of his intelligence."
...is the fear with Rosen is what's not on tape-injury and dedication concerns- while with Darnold it is what is on tape-he looked more terrible than good this past year. To me it is a no-brainer, but I'm just a fan, so what do I know.
If the Giants pick Rosen, I will be ecstatic (Milton, too). He is a gamer, and he has the talent to be a pro-bowl QB. Build the OL, get a RB and we have a shot at the SB. The injury issue? Come on, man...it's football. Players get hurt. Carson Went, Mr. Superman, got hurt. Why? because he runs out of the pocket and makes himself vulnerable. Rosen doesn't do that. He slides when he has to vacate the pocket. Injuries happen. Rub some dirt on it and play.

So we pass on a potential franchise qb because Eli has another year or two of playing below average?
just the best qb in this draft by a wide margin IMO. I'm fine if they believe in webb and want to pass on Rosen for Barkley, but if they take Darnold over Rosen I'd be very upset.

Sure they happen but not playing in or finishing 12 of his last 20 games at UCLA while getting two concussions, a knee and a shoulder injury, has to raise some red flags.
Barring that, he's a no- brainier but with it, it's a big concern for me. If how ever the Giants do their homework on him and don't think it's a big deal then I'd be ok with it. That's their job and if they do it well, I'm sure they'd make the right decision, whatever way they go on him.
again. He will be retiring with concussion problems long before he brings us back to the promised land. Barkley, Nelson or a trade down for me . Buffalo wants him supposedly, lets do that deal. Oh wait, he may not want to play there, and go back to school ?
Wait until next week to see the hype. March 20 is Barkley and March 21 is Darnold. :)
More than likely I'll be at the PSU proday. Problem is O'Brien changed the policy during his time there and they now allow the media. After that it became a mess.. This year will be a circus with the hype around Barkley.
That’s a very fair point. If Darnold isn’t there, then you either trade down and get a king’s ransom or choose between Rosen or Allen. Allen has a higher ceiling but a much lower floor than Rosen.
...everyone knows this. It has nothing to do with the possible negatives that play into his evaluation and Draft grade.
I also believe his mobility/escapability is at the low end of the spectrum which will lead to him taking big shots at the next level. The concussions combined with his own statements that he doesn't 'need' football scare the shit out of me.
He could get a couple of concussions and his neuro-whatever father could wisely council him to get out and who could blame him at that pont if he did exactly that. Too much risk for such a pivotal decision for our franchise.
Talked w/ @josh3rosen this morning. Told me he wished it had rained during his @UCLAFootball pro day so he could show teams he could wing it in all elements. He did have plenty of wind to contend with and looked terrific both rolling out and in pocket. Best passer in this draft.
hope the Browns take him. But wait, he won't play there. He sees the $$$ in NYC. Leave Barkley for us or trade down for Nelson and picks. Rosen will not have a long career and we will be looking for QB after his next concussion.
is the best player in the draft when you factor in positional value and talent IMO.
Barkley/Nelson are better players but at positions that are not as highly valued. It would not make sense to take one of those guys with a QB like Rosen on the board and the Giants having a need at QB.

Anti-Rosen lobbying machine posting complete guesswork with a side of BS as fact. Standard procedure.

Guaranteed one of the two. Might even have a choice between both.
Rosen, Barkley, Nelson and Fitzpatrick are the 4 best players in this draft. Hands down.
At least until I see the next QB’s pro day...

Amen!
He should be the guy at 2.

I sure hope you're right. I'm counting on it, actually.
Luck was a once in a generation prospect - the best QB prospect since John Elway.
The OL's IND put in front of him were borderline criminal, and on top of that, he played a very reckless brand of ball. Just like we saw with Wentz.
Injuries have derailed his career
CRAZY!
Well thats being intentionally obtuse then. His medicals are a very substantial reason to worry.

The question is can he be durable? He could be Bradford or Brady.

The Giants are making a conscious effort to keep things in house this time around. I wouldn't worry about that.

He's exactly what his team dictates he is when the the fans aren't viewing hin a vacuum. Dude ain't special.
I’d bet money the browns don’t draft rosen. Just a bunch plus hasn’t rosen come out and said he doesn’t want to play there?

In what world is luck not a ringing endorsement. Unbelievable.

You’re enormously mistaken.
Look at those teams he took to the playoffs - it was Elway-esque.
So we pass on a potential franchise qb because Eli has another year or two of playing below average?
What was so hard for you to understand in that post.
