"Tyrann Mathieu is still deciding which teams he’s going to visit. The Giants, Jets and Packers are three teams that are “still in it at the moment.” (via @joearrigo)
Don't see how they make this work with the cap unless his cap hit is 6 mil this year...
The teams sources tell me are “in at the moment” w/ Tyrann are (in no order):
Packers, Giants, Jets, Saints, Seahawks, Texans & Raiders (trying to confirm others)
I think it'll be the Packers- he says he "wants to be somewhere football matters." That is not the Jets IMO. Packers or Giants, and GB has more cap space.
If giants want mathieu they can make it work

Yea sorry. I got this tweet from the "Giants Daily" twitter account and this is how he tweeted it. I didn't see the actual tweet, but the Giants Daily account worded it poorly to make it seem more favorable for the Giants in order to get more clicks
Jets shouldn't take maye or Adams off the field ever...they have skrine in the slot too.
Seahawks makes sense if they get rid of Thomas but asking price is high
I have a feeling also that it's going to be Texans. I think he'll be excited to play with DeShaun Watson and JJ Watt.
I don't know if they are dating or how accurate the info is but I heard the hosts on WFAN today say he has a kid with Bowles step daughter. No idea if they're together or not.
If the Giants want him that bad they can afford him
Funny since he played the most snaps last year
You must've tuned in when the O was on the field then. Between D and specials, he played the most snaps of anyone in the NFL last year.
Must have been a commercial
Dallas is out of it last I heard....Seattle wants a first n 3rd
Dave knows how to make "unaffordable" affordable w/r/t other contracts.
Mathieu looks like a good choice for the turn around of this D.

Listening to the Draft show over at Dallas Cowboys Hosted by Brian Broddus and Dane Bugler, they hinted that the cowboys were in negotiations with Seattle for Earl Thomas. Money wasn't holding up the deal, they said it was other matters. I suspect it's the draft picks that Seattle wants. They said an announcement would be made over the next few days or in a week's time. Thus the interest from Seattle for Mathieu.

Why waste everyone's time with a ridiculous trade demand? He has one more year under contract, then you have to pay huge money in an extension, or you have to extend him now for big money...so if you're Dallas or any other team you aren't giving up a first rounder much less a first AND a third, and then have to pay him.
I'd imagine Dallas would do it for a 3rd, perhaps a 2nd rounder, that's it, and if Seattle thinks anyone else would pay more than that, they are kidding themselves. The guy probably has about 3 seasons left of this level of performance before he starts to decline, if everything goes well. I'm sure Seattle is just playing hardball here, but obviously you aren't getting that kind of compensation.
Bettcher in that meeting they had about personnel said he will use the free safety that way..
He wants a guy who can play over the top but then come up and cover a slot wide receiver...
It allows him to be more creative with personnel and he doesn't always have to bring in an extra th because he trusts the free safety to cover
That's what Sy said the destination would be... or what he had been hearing as of yesterday.
I agree Mathieu would be a good fit for them.
I know it sounds crazy, but I don't even really want him here. I don't think it'll be worth the price tag. I'm not sure a player his size is going to hold up for the long-haul.

He's only 28. I don't think age is the consideration here. He's a top 3 safety.
Also, from Dallas' point of view, they're expecting to be a good team again. Their first round pick is going to be the mid 20s anyway barring some catastrophe. I don't think the trade demand is it either. They just can't afford to pay him what he wants to be paid.

the fact that every time I put a Cardinals game on the guy is not playing.
That sort of backfired - didn't it??

the Steelers. That D certainly could use his play making skills...

I kind of agree. Would be happy if we get him, but don't know if he's worth pushing up against the cap.
Mike Mitchell is a FA, adding him and a reasonably priced slot CB would add a lot of depth to the secondary and fill needs without busting the cap. Eric Reid is also out there. He's had some injury issues but he's a good player.
Jets have a lot of $$$, but they have Claiborne and Johnson at CB and Adams and Maye at S, I'm not sure I see the obvious fit there.
The Packers make a ton of sense though.

but I have a gut feeling that Mathieu ends up with the Jets or Texans. My gut feeling is probably about as reliable as that dude so yeah.
I have a feeling also that it's going to be Texans. I think he'll be excited to play with DeShaun Watson and JJ Watt.
Called it

You nailed that for sure. The football gods owe that D a year of good health. If they get it, look out...
Correct!
