Two summer ago I told all my horseshoe buddies the Giants were going to win the division and go far into the playoffs, maybe even the Super bowl. Well we know how that turned out. I wasn't looking forward to facing 30 to 40 guys come the 1st Thursday of May this past year. I live in Eagle area and a lot of Dallas fans. Needless to say it was brutal, but I kicked their asses in horseshoes to get even.

Perhaps a framework was talked about pending other things happening first, like completion of pro days or even for draft night to make sure of the pick taken at #1.

Could be a general non-binding verbal agreement was made to be consummated later. You never know with these things and it's all good.

but probably makes sense to take a step back and think about the context of the timing (people are still seeing blue chip workouts)... the bias of the market (everyone has expected bills to trade up into top 6 for 2 months- would it be a total shock if at some stage a trade happened?) and then present it more in a way that filters the immediacy of the info--- as you are smart enough to realize nothing was going to happen "in hours" if you took a step back and looked at the landscape.

regardless- you also want to be careful about starting threads if you do feel like you have very good color. its a bullseye--- feed it into some other thread....if it pans out people will not forget that you provided the keys to the kingdom.

Free agency and the draft go hand in hand. If the Bills were to give up basically their draft, wouldn't they want to know that early in free agency as they probably go after more depth signings.

Take a look at it from the Giants end also... there is probably a healthy debate of getting a successor to Eli or being more aggressive with a short term approach. We have a lot of holes to fill but if we were to get an extra 1,2 and 3, we can do that in the draft and may take a flyer on someone like the honey badger and even Solder over less expensive names.

Building a team is not done in a vacuum.

you were simply relaying info from a contact you trusted. It may have even been true. Trades like this are very fluid, and the smallest snag can kill them.

DaddyM89 shared something he heard and fully disclosed that it was just info he heard and was passing it along. He obviously wasn't concerned with playing up this big "insider" persona - he was very transparent and we all appreciated it.

There's a difference between this, and "I have the best info on BBI!!" and "If you keep being mean I won't share my info!"

I thought that too. But if you look at a trade that is, essentially similar, was the Redskins trade up with the Rams to get the #2 pick in 2012 to trade for RGIII. That trade took place on March 12, 2012, just before the start of the league year. So it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for a deal to happen now. More often it does happen in April, but it's not a non-starter.

Is an idiot. Your info could have been good but given the fluid nature of these things, blown up. It could have been mixed information, in that the Giants were engaging in serious preliminary discussions but had no intention of following through at this time. Or it could have been BS. There are just too many factors working against it. No need to apologize at all, from what I'm seeing, a majority of the board has the right perspective.

What we DO know is that parameters for trades are often hammered out and revisited closer to the actual draft. I'm sure that Buffalo is talking to every team in the top 5 to see what it is going to take to move up. There is still a lot of private workouts, evaluation and ranking left to do. The teams in the top 5 hold the cards and chances are they won't rush their decisions because they don't have to.

he said originally would have been something along the likes of
pick 12, 22, 2nd rounder, 4th rounder, and next years first. Not sure if the jets trade would drive that up even more.

Haven't spoken with him since yesterday morning, where he still claims its going to happen. He never mentioned hearing anything about the jets - colts trade to me, so not sure if he any knowledge of it or if this directly affects Giants-Bills trade, but as others have mentioned, you would think it definitely increase the odds of it happening. Only way for Bills to jump their division rivals now.

Don't think anybody would ever try to drive him away or question him considering he's batting 1.000. I don't remember the first time I saw his posts, but it's been a few years for sure and he's never been wrong. Thanks Hitdog for all that you do!! It is greatly appreciated.
