anyone remember when the Chargers traded back with Atlanta? who took Mike Vick and the Chargers took Tomlinson and in the second extra pick they got in return took Drew Brees. How did that trade back workout? See I think the Giants have a great chance of doing something like this, its not about the one player if you can get a stud with the pick your getting say at 5 and than killing it after that. Early second round picks are huge. This is why they should consider every trade option.
Buffalo is still at 11 and that is a pretty big difference. If we did trade with them, you have to get both first rounder's, both second rounder's, and next seasons first rounder.
that leaves
#4 QB
Nelson
Chubb
Fitz
Available at #5.
You would likely get Denver #2 pick, a #1 in 2019, and something else.
NO WAY you want to take Nelson, Chubb, or Fitz at #2 now. You trade back if that's who you want.
There is still a chance you get Barkley at 5 if browns trade #4 to bills although that would require the browns to be okay with passing on Barkley.
QBs go first 4 Barkley at five.
Imo though it's simple. Barkley stay put. Nelson trade back
Then the Giants are still sitting pretty and could listen to offers for the 3 from either Cleveland at 4 or Denver at 5. Especially Denver at 5 if they want a QB.
Giants could get a sweet haul and still one of Barkley,Chubb,Nelson or Fitzpatrick at 5.
Definitely don't want them trading back any farther than 5 though. If Buffalo wants #2, they need to move up from 12 somehow first for me.
Certainly a possibility. Giants would only do it if they don't like the QBs and Jets would only do it if they had a strong preference for one of the QBs. I wouldn't expect a haul like that though because the Jets trading now indicates that they probably have 3 grouped closely together. Maybe their 3rd and young player like Enunwu or something.
If Cleveland trades #4 and two second round picks. The draft goes QB, Barkley, QB.
Sitting at 4
Take the #3 QB - Mayfield/Allen at worst
Trade with Denver who want the #3 QB and does not want the Bills to jump them, likely get a 2 and a 3.
Trade with Buffalo for 12, 22 and 2 second round picks.
The result if two trades:
Cleveland the Denver: Nelson/Chubb/Fitz/#4 QB, 4 picks in round two and 2 in round three
Cleveland then Buffalo: Picks 12, 22, 5 picks in round two, and possibly more. I think you would still get a real good player at 12.
Buffalo is still at 11 and that is a pretty big difference. If we did trade with them, you have to get both first rounder's, both second rounder's, and next seasons first rounder.

In another thread but is it unrealistic to think the Jets get antsy someone jumps them for their QB and offers their #1 next year to the Giants to move up one spot?

Yeah I should've said that was going on the assumption the Giants didn't like a QB at 2.
Not sure I would do it for less than next year's 1 but what you suggested isn't too bad considering the guy the Giants would want would still be there at 3, and they'd add a pick and a player.

Barkley or QB otherwise trade back.

This is the only logical move I would make. Unless I have a qb in mind myself at 2. The one w Cleveland makes sense but unless it’s mike ditka pulling the plug that deal for giants prob won’t happen.
Trade down too far and it’s pointless. A spot or two or trade up,

Takes a QB at 1, they may be the trade partner because they are dreaming of Barkley too. I they came away from this draft with Darnold and Barkley, I think they would give us the #4, both number 2's, and next seasons #1. That would be too good to pass up and at #4 we would still get a stud player. Unless the Giants love a QB and he is there, then all bets are off, you must take the franchise QB.

Paul I think the only way we trade with the Bills is if we trade with Cleveland or Denver first. We would effectively have Buffalo 12 and 22 AND 4 second round picks including 33,34,36, 37 and a 2019 #1 for the 2nd pick. We would still get a very good player at 12 and be set for years to come.
Right there with ya md.
I like this idea but only if they're not sold on a QB, and don't trade back farther than 5. They could easily replicate what SD with Thomlinson/Brees if they listen to all offers and play their cards right.
I have much more confidence in them playing this right than I would've if Reese was still at the helm.
Anyone who didn't trade down for a high QB pick must have really blown it?
Right... and when Denver takes Chubb or Nelson or fitz I’ll say hi.
Every team is looking at qbs. Doesn’t mean they take one.
Why not do both? Let the Jets worry Denver will jump them and entice them to trade up one spot. Then do a trade back to 5 with Denver.
That's if the Giants aren't set on any one particular player at 2, whether that's a QB or whoever. They could definitely get one of Barkley,Chubb, Nelson or Fitzpatrick at 5 if QBs go 1-2-3.
Buffalo is still at 11 and that is a pretty big difference. If we did trade with them, you have to get both first rounder's, both second rounder's, and next seasons first rounder.
Why would they need to? Jets are taking QB. Unless we tell them we are taking Barkley if you don't trade with us.
