Why are people being so weird with this shit? Ok fine they don’t like or know Webb. Ok. So...... what if they also don’t like the qbs in the draft? Would their lack or faith in Webb force the giants to draft a qb they don’t even like? It better not!
You scout the players and grade them. Then you draft them based on the grades given along with your needs. You don’t draft soley on need but it’s a factor.
Of course the giants would feel differently about this draft is they were convinced Davis webb is the goods. But there’s no way in hell they feel that way about a late 3rd round qb with little Nfl experience drafted by a prior disgraced regime.
Webb is a slight factor as he could play a part in future thinking but as of now he’s nothing more than a shot in the dark.
I do think it’s as simple as, ‘is there a QB that will be available at 2 that will be my franchise QB for the next 15 years’....
If the answer is no, you make a damned good effort to act as if there is and let another team give you the farm to answer that very question for themselves...

I think they can go into and see at the combines and camps if they are better than Webb know or not and make a judgement. If Webb is looking really good I think it counts for something. Kid works hard and is a film rat than who knows maybe it makes the difference.
Sorry but I don't see how you or anyone else can say that with such certainty. How would you know if you aren't in the inner workings of the team?
It's might be a slim chance but there is a chance they're high on Webb, and if so it would certainly play into their draft plans, and I think the opposite is true as well. If they don't have any plans for Webb, I think it makes taking a QB an even stronger possibility.
To say he has nothing "at all" to do with it is off base IMO.
He was drafted by Reese. If I am DG I am not putting my eggs in that basket. I evaluate the kids coming out and if I feel they are worthy of the pick I drat them. If Reese was still here I think it would play a factor but not with DG.
If DG passes on one of these guys and they turn into Tom Brady and we go with Webb and he flops we will be in QB hell. Another team looking for a QB, you have a chance to get a QB you take take him everytime. If he doesnt feel like they are good enough they dont.
If Giants want Nelson they should look to broncos and move back to 5. Still a chance albeit small of Barkley being there but Nelson will be.
If they want Barkley stay at 2 and take him.
If they want any of QBs stay at 2 and take em.
I think Webb should be evaled for a year by shurmur so I'm a fan of getting a ton of picks and take Nelson at 5 or Barkley at 2
Broncos are not moving up after signing Keenum. The only team with the picks to move up to 2 is Buffalo.
Giants are going to stay at 2 and Draft BPA.
Keenum is a bridge. A two year contract that they could potentially jettison after one (with $10 dead money). His signing does not prevent the Broncos from moving up in the draft if they want a particular QB and can ante up requisite bounty for that player. Their only potential trading partner is the Giants.

I basically agree. I think it's about: 1A) What the Giants think about Eli and how many seasons he can be productive, 1B) What the Giants think about the 2018 QBs and 3) What the Giants guess the ceiling is for Webb.
History clearly tells us that trading down is a much much better strategy. Stat guys say trading down all the time is worth 1-2 wins per season, and I would love al those extra playoff appearances and bye weeks

Its virtually impossible to develop 2 backup QB's, there just aren't enough snaps in the day. One will get backup snaps and one will get scout team/PS (which is nothing). Its different than Brady and Garapolo, Garapolo was the backup. This would be like Brady, Grapaolo, and whoever their 3rd string was, and developing the 3rd string.
