Unless Webb is ready it would be a huge mistake to pass on QB. Giants can add better linemen in front of Eli, but they cannot make him younger or more mobile. Regardless of where you stand on Eli, his time has come or is coming very soon and hopefully the Giants will not be drafting this high again in the near future.
We need a quarterback but are not desperate for one. Davis Webb is the real answer to the question. Eli and Giant management have seen him in practice. Is he the goods?
Others are desperate and will pay and pay and pay.
I do not want to mortgage two drafts in the next two years to pick a top quarterback and do not want to live through another disastrous season in order to draft high enough to get a top quarterback prospect.
Why are these teams willing to make these trades? If you feel like the QBs are worth it (and many teams apparently do making these moves) stay where you are. You still have plenty of picks. If they can get Darnold or Rosen you can’t say no to that.
The only way I would trade down is if I could guarantee I was getting a solid starting offensive line (all 5 players!) for it.
on what another team offers. Some offers are just too good to refuse. I can see a team offering their 1st and 2nd, plus next year's 1st and 2nd as well as throwing in a solid player in a need position for the Giants.
It all depends on how willing another team is to bend over the way the Eagles did to get Wentz
I suspect the Giants will only trade down if another team throws in the whole ranch, the cattle, the savings account and the wife and kids
Denver is likely still in the market, but they are committed at QB for next two seasons, so I doubt they are desperate. Buffalo? I don’t see Giants dealing beyond the reach of Barkley, Chubb, or Nelson. So that’s top 5, 6 at most.
but the Giants won't.
They'll reach for a QB who isn't worth picking at two and who will leave us knowing what it feels like to be the Jets, or Dolphins, or pretty much half the league who doesn't have all that great of a QB.

So you predict they will draft Jackson or Rudolph?

And who won that Wentz trade? Only answer is to stay at 2.
Because someone, Denver, starved more for a QB and worried about losing out will present the Giants with an offer they can’t refuse. Also because I feel like being a contrarian.
one of the QBs will end up being worthy of the number 2 pick. the problem is that we don't know which one it will be. Afterwards, BBI will be all over the "should have taken a QB" mantra, forgetting about the 'can't miss' prospects that washed out. It's my nitpick with the 'take a QB crowd'. One doesn't get to lump all QB's into one. the 'take a QB crowd' has to narrow it down to one. Not any of three, or four, or five. One. I don't think any of the QB's are can't miss prospects, hence not worth a number two. I'm also a pessimist, so no matter which QB the Giants take, it'll probably be the wrong one.
The Giants need to have the heir apparent to Eli
This is an unusual draft there are 4 quality qbs that are worthy of a top 10 selection
The Giants can get a great QB
This can set up the Giants for the next 10 years
Also for those who like Webb
The best thing for the Giants would be to have two quality QBs
The winner is your an the loser is trade bait
I’d only change the verb here from “are” to “should” because Jints Central can’t be ruled out for doing something galacticly stupid like drafting a f-ckin G.

As so many like to say, "They could have gotten a boat load of picks" trading down.
I m kind of glad they didn't
By the way, Giants had good linebackers coming into 81 season prior to getting L. T.
THE next season at #3, they drafted Carl Banks.
Back then they understood the value in building for the next decade +, as opposed to one or two seasons.
I think Gettleman does too. Giants don t really need a quarterback for next season, maybe next two. But here s betting Gettleman is smart enough to get one.

It is not a game. It is not a bet. There is no money on the line. You are nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking. People want a QB, so what? It will be Barkley or one of Rosen, Darnold or Allen.
Wentz or Goff? Eli, Rivers, Ben? Marino, Elway, Blackledge, Thompson, O'Brien?
No matter who the Giants pick whiners will be whining 3 years from now that Allen has 20 50 yard TDs or Rosen has a 70% completion percentage or Darnold is picking teams apart or Barkley has 3 straight 2000+ all purpose yard seasons or Nelson is 3 x All Pro.
It comes down to Barkley (consensus best player) vs QB of the future..(I guess you could include vs. quantity with a trade down scenario)
That market has dried up.
Buffalo is desperate but they don't have the firepower to get to 2.
Denver has their QB for the near future and 3 young QB's behind that.
No one else is in range.
Giants are staying at #2 and taking BPA.
Browns take Darnold. Giants take Barkley. As DG said, "don't get cute."
DG has upgraded the OL in FA. Barkley is also a weapon out of the backfield, which is important since right now we basically only have OBJ, SS, and EE as receivers.
Did Cleveland trade for Tyrod Taylor as a stop gap until their, #1 pick, a QB, is ready? Or will Cleveland take Barkley?
What it all comes down to is, is this crop of QB's really that good, or are they just a toss of the dice?
What amazes me is how some on this board, are somehow equating Webb with these qb's, without having seen him play....
I think Cleveland is not going to let a future QB go down the drain like they have in the past.....Taylor can hold down the fort while the newbie gets ready....
Now, the Giants have a huge decision to make if Cleveland takes a QB.....
Do they take Barkley? Or if the #1 QB they wanted was not chosen by Cleveland, do they take a QB? Or if some deranged GM makes an offer you can't refuse, do they go in that direction?
This is the first time that I have seen a group of supposedly good QB's, with no front runner or sure fire tag on one of them...
Others are desperate and will pay and pay and pay.
Webb is likely a non factor
Take Rosen, if he's there, and be done with it.
The only way I would trade down is if I could guarantee I was getting a solid starting offensive line (all 5 players!) for it.
Two very different questions especially with
'can they'
changing every day.
Should they - If there was a browns offer to go down to 4 and end up with
4, 33,34,35
and some pick next year I would have done that one. So yes.
Can they- we have only tidbits s from the news. Who knows.

Giants have a lot of depth issues and need young talent in a lot of spots.
I’d trade down, perhaps even multiple times.

Otherwise, Zerg nails it.

And 4 months ago everybody said Darnold should have stayed in school and now he’s one of the top 2guys in the draft I’ve heard it all
