We need a quarterback but are not desperate for one. Davis Webb is the real answer to the question. Eli and Giant management have seen him in practice. Is he the goods?
Others are desperate and will pay and pay and pay.
Buffalo is still on a mission to get a QB and getting ahead of the Jets means calling the Giants. It all could change again before draft day though, things keep changing and impacting the Giants options.
Unless Webb is ready it would be a huge mistake to pass on QB. Giants can add better linemen in front of Eli, but they cannot make him younger or more mobile. Regardless of where you stand on Eli, his time has come or is coming very soon and hopefully the Giants will not be drafting this high again in the near future.

I do not want to mortgage two drafts in the next two years to pick a top quarterback and do not want to live through another disastrous season in order to draft high enough to get a top quarterback prospect.
Why are these teams willing to make these trades? If you feel like the QBs are worth it (and many teams apparently do making these moves) stay where you are. You still have plenty of picks. If they can get Darnold or Rosen you can’t say no to that.
The only way I would trade down is if I could guarantee I was getting a solid starting offensive line (all 5 players!) for it.
on what another team offers. Some offers are just too good to refuse. I can see a team offering their 1st and 2nd, plus next year's 1st and 2nd as well as throwing in a solid player in a need position for the Giants.
It all depends on how willing another team is to bend over the way the Eagles did to get Wentz
I suspect the Giants will only trade down if another team throws in the whole ranch, the cattle, the savings account and the wife and kids
Denver is likely still in the market, but they are committed at QB for next two seasons, so I doubt they are desperate. Buffalo? I don’t see Giants dealing beyond the reach of Barkley, Chubb, or Nelson. So that’s top 5, 6 at most.
but the Giants won't.
They'll reach for a QB who isn't worth picking at two and who will leave us knowing what it feels like to be the Jets, or Dolphins, or pretty much half the league who doesn't have all that great of a QB.

So you predict they will draft Jackson or Rudolph?

And who won that Wentz trade? Only answer is to stay at 2.
Because someone, Denver, starved more for a QB and worried about losing out will present the Giants with an offer they can’t refuse. Also because I feel like being a contrarian.
one of the QBs will end up being worthy of the number 2 pick. the problem is that we don't know which one it will be. Afterwards, BBI will be all over the "should have taken a QB" mantra, forgetting about the 'can't miss' prospects that washed out. It's my nitpick with the 'take a QB crowd'. One doesn't get to lump all QB's into one. the 'take a QB crowd' has to narrow it down to one. Not any of three, or four, or five. One. I don't think any of the QB's are can't miss prospects, hence not worth a number two. I'm also a pessimist, so no matter which QB the Giants take, it'll probably be the wrong one.
No and no. Think the Browns take Darnold and the Giants take Barkley.
This
Others are desperate and will pay and pay and pay.
2) Do the Giants trade down if the Browns pick Darnold?
for the above, I choose:
1) No
2) Yes
Others are desperate and will pay and pay and pay.
Webb is likely a non factor
Take Rosen, if he's there, and be done with it.

Two very different questions especially with
'can they'
changing every day.
Should they - If there was a browns offer to go down to 4 and end up with
4, 33,34,35
and some pick next year I would have done that one. So yes.
Can they- we have only tidbits s from the news. Who knows.

I think they stay put and draft Darnold or Rosen

Giants have a lot of depth issues and need young talent in a lot of spots.
I’d trade down, perhaps even multiple times.
