I dismiss everything this regime says about Eli's present talent level and their approach---I cannot dismiss what they've been doing.
They have been in strong aquisition mode regarding the weak points of this team.... beyong the Talk, I expected a heavy rotation of players OUTWARD in exchange for Youth, Draft Picks, Cap Room--- that's not what's happening on the Major Points of the roster moves they've made.
They're acting like They Believe Their Talk....and, when the actions match the words, Who am I to disagree???
I remain hopeful that they see a Franchise QB at 2---that's my only explanation for the fact that the Jets moved to 3....after all, if the pick was available, the Jets would be sitting at 2 today...... and the Giants would have a boatload of picks. The Giants stayed at 2..... That's another big message based on the actions of this regime.
I am always happy when my team is acting on a strong belief---they abviously are doing that.
By far this offseason rests on what they do with the top pick. Pass on the next great young QB and they blew a career defining opportunity. Drafting a bust is a fireable offense. What about the Odell contract? Did we get the right man at HC?
It’s easy to love things because they are different. But the big questions still remain and this administration needs to earn their trust. Blind faith? That’s going to dissolve quickly if they blow any of the above.
In the last few years terrible OL play and bad coaching crippled everything positive about this team. Hopefully, both will have been upgraded enough to make a difference by the end of this offseason. They are off to a good start.
The bigger issue for our receivers was defenders dialed into the quick slant passing attack and tee'ing off on our receivers because they could anticipate what we were doing without any fear of a running game. Need to get back to having some element of physicality on offense.
Eli's never been consistently good at hitting crossing routes without the receiver having to break his stride. Once in a while the ball is there, but all too often the ball is behind, way above, or at the receivers feet. We've seen quite a few guys get creamed that way, especially the TE's of a few years ago (Kevin Boss anyone?). This had never been one of Eli's strength's. Is he getting worse is a legitimate question.
Dumb...

and causing injuries. He wiped out the whole starting WR lineup and it and he can do it again.

and dumber.
And Eli is as sharp as he was 12 years ago... Sure.
Philly has taken some real roster hits since the SB, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the Giants ended up competing for a division title next season.
I'm sure no one wants to read positive analysis of our team here. Keep your positivity to yourself. Give me more Doom and Gloom.
And I would have been very disappointed if DG got Norwell but not Solder.
We would still be short a guard and a tackle with just a little more cap room to sign one lineman a little better than Ohmayah (sp). We probably would be stuck with Flowers and Wheeler battling it out for who will play LT and who would play RT.
I am on one of the first to point out Eli's errors but at the same time, I will quickly correct someone when they are unfairly criticizing him.
I would love to know exactly how the WR injuries were Eli's fault. Suggest you go back and watch all of the replays. That is just ridiculous.
Does he throw the ball high and expose some WRs at times? YES... but these injuries are NOT why the guys got hurt. Even the OBJ injury.
When this team SHOWS US that they can win the physical matches on the line of scrimmage, then we can start to get optimistic.
If we getting dominated again this pre-season, I dont want to see the word "vanilla" thrown around here as an excuse like the last few years. When guys are getting pushed backwards, the play being called has nothing to do with it.
Lets hope for some improvement.

Except both the throw vs Cleveland in preseason and the throw vs Chargers that ended his season were both off target and got OBJ hurt. There were unneedlessly high and where he had to reach back putting him in harms way. And neither time was Eli under duress...
