New Draft Camp- We can't go wrong

MBavaro : 3/18/2018 9:55 am
Put me in the group of "We are in a great spot, and can't go wrong with any pick we make."

All this back and forth about what to do with the #2 pick, I think many on here are losing sight of what a fantastic position we are in.

-There will be MULTIPLE players available at #2 who don't have any signs they will be a "bust", and should be franchise-altering players.

-If we trade down, we will get a huge bounty that will help us fill a number of needs with quality players.

It's win-win. You can argue one player or one scenario over the other, but to say "if we don't do this, we're f'ed" is nonsense. You're digging too much into this and making it more complicated than it is.

That is all.....

I think I'm in the, "I'm cool with whatever happens" camp.

I don't have the testicular fortitude to say we can't go wrong.
I agree.
DonnieD89 : 3/18/2018 10:11 am : link
We should not be totally upset with the direction that Gettleman will be going, whatever it is. Being at #2 is a very envious situation in the draft. Many good options to choose from.
I think we'll do well. I'll be very happy with Darnold, Rosen,
Ira : 3/18/2018 10:23 am : link
Barkley and maybe Mayfield. I'll be even happier with a lucrative trade down. I won't be happy with Nelson or Allen.
Here's my guess today...
M.S. : 3/18/2018 10:40 am : link

#1 Browns (Josh Rosen)
#2 Giants (Sam Darnold)
#3 Jets (Baker Mayfield)
#4 Browns (Saquon Barkley)
#5 Broncos (Josh Allen)
#6 Colts (Quenton Nelson)

We're in the pipe. Five by five.
Coach Red Beaulieu : 3/18/2018 10:54 am : link
We get the qb we covet, or Cleveland blows out our birthday candles and we have to settle for a 230 lb Marshall Faulk <insert sad trombone music here>

Only thing better is if there was an LT type prospect we can run up to the podium again to draft.
I don't think the Browns go Rosen after what he said about them
Optimus-NY : 3/18/2018 10:57 am : link
IF they go QB at 1--which they probably will---then Rosen is the least liley of the bog 4 to go #1 or even be picked by them. I think they favor them in this order:

1 - Darnold
2 - Mayfield
3 - Allen
4 - Rosen

I think Mayfield is a sleeper to go #1 overall.

I hear ya... the reason I went Rosen is because he may be the "safeest" and "most ready" pick, and the Browns cannot experience another QBfail.org for the 40th time, thus the bias toward Rosen
we can absolutely go wrong and screw this up
GiantsFan84 : 3/18/2018 11:05 am : link
we could stay put and draft a non-qb.

Had me laughing with this one! I pretty much agree... have been in the QB at #2 camp for months now.
Do I think we are in a great spot?
Jay on the Island : 3/18/2018 11:12 am : link
Absolutely expecially after the Jets trade. Do I think we can screw it up? Absolutely.
Agree - whether its Barkley, a QB, or trading down for a bounty
PatersonPlank : 3/18/2018 11:16 am : link
we will ext this draft in better shape then we are now

i'm with Eric on this.

ideally they love a QB and take him. but if they don't love a QB at 2 then so be it, don't force it. but if that's the case then they need to trade down and not stay put and draft nelson/barkley/chubb.
I'm with you Rambo!
GMen23 : 3/18/2018 11:22 am : link
Yeah, I guess we could screw it up. But I have faith that those with more material facts then us, (DG-PS), will get ti right.

I don't see Rosen going to the Browns. He was vocal about not wanting to play there initially. I think that stays on Cleveland's mind.

we are in good shape no matter what

i don't want a trade down out of the top 6, but other than that i'm happy with whatever happens.

Me, too... if we don't want/get QB at #2, definitely would love trading for a boatload of picks!
Ditto
KerrysFlask : 3/18/2018 12:08 pm : link
I actually don't hate any of these potential outcomes. Josh Allen was the closest I had to a remote thrower pick, but his personality had kind of won me over to not be so negative.

Darnold is the QB I'd probably be least excited about, which means he'll probably be the best.

I've been a Rosen and mayfield fan.
Everyone loves Barkley.
Trade down and Nelson is a beast.
Chubb might be cool with the new defense.
Even Lamar Jackson has a certain excitement to it.

I'm pumped.

Passing on a Franchise QB to Take Barkley...
Jim in Tampa : 3/18/2018 12:53 pm : link
And then watching that QB lead the Jets to multiple Super Bowls years after Barkley retired would certainly qualify in my book as CAN go wrong. Especially when you factor in all the years in the future where the NYG struggle without a franchise QB.

You can also go wrong taking Nelson (no matter how great a GUARD he turns out to be) while one or more of the QBs you passed on turn out to be all-pros.

This "can't go wrong" thing is a big, fat myth.

who says any of these qbs. are the real deal?...barkley is.....unless gmen get big time trade down...u take barkley
Only one bad thing can happen if the Giants stay at #2 and draft a
Ivan15 : 3/18/2018 2:29 pm : link
QB - he flops.

If they trade down, a bunch of things can go wrong.

There have been plenty of RBs that have flopped, just like QBs. Let's not pretend Barkley is a can't miss guy and that all the QBs are "flawed" just because you think the Giants should pick Barkley.
I'm on board for whatever the FO decides
adamg : 3/18/2018 4:50 pm : link
I like how Gettleman has operated so far. I think he'll continue to do good stuff.
I won't be angry
mrvax : 3/18/2018 6:32 pm : link
but scared if the Giants do not take a QB. It would mean they didn't think much of this group. But it's so hard to get a good QB.

Think about what the Vikings just paid for a fairly decent QB.
I have my favorites
Joey in VA : 3/18/2018 6:59 pm : link
But I'll tell you what, those dudes will earn every penny they get by having to make this choice. Picking 2nd is a pain in the ass when you have this clump of QBs, a blue chip RB which is about once or twice every 8 years now, a blue chip OG and then a whole bunch of ? marks. Where is the value at 2? Is it at a position of possible need at QB? Is Webb good enough that taking one of these is redundant? They simply don't know and with no off-season contact they can't find out. It's a total crap shoot at #2, there are ways we can absolutely fail. I would not want to be the guy who makes that final call.
