But if the team had remained healthy, we could have gotten at least 7 or 8 wins, and he'd still be here. 11-5 benefitted from luck, but a bad coach wouldn't have accomplished that. It will take a long time for McAdoo to recover from midseason firing (and his Eli decision surely had the blessing of Reese if not Mara) but in the long run, he will be viewed as an average NFL head coach.
oddly similar in that I think I remember both being described as the smartest guy in the room types and both came across as smug and condescending.
Handley is the bigger loser of the two IMO because he took over a championship team (literally) while McAdoo was tasked with rebuilding the team to a championship caliber.
However McAdoo does earn the booby prize for worst single decision in how he chose to handle the entire Eli affair, and a second booby prize for the whole hair thing.
Basically they are both similar and yet uniquely horrible. I do think I dislike McAoo more but maybe that's just because his crap fest is so fresh, who knows? They both royally suck.
