NFT: Why do it? ~sigh~ Walking dead discussion

montanagiant : 3/19/2018 12:58 am
I have an Assault Rifle, a Pistol, a Car to run him over, and an Ax

VS

A guy with a Bat

And I still can't get it done.

Has there ever been a more impotent ineffectual hero for a TV series in the history of Television? It's almost at the Infomercial level of television
The most laughable part

Of that sequence... probably should say *spoilers* here, so stop reading if you haven't watched the latest episode, which I thought was well done, btw, was....

When he knows Negan is probably injured and stuck in that car, is him just wasting ammo walking up to the car and inexplicably shooting into the car chassis.

I get it, it's a show, but why not run up there and shoot the hell out of Negan before he gets a chance to egress the vehicle. Makes no sense.

You can't even say he didn't want to risk Negan shooting him at that point, because he clearly acted with no regard to his personal safety that entire fight sequence.

The level they stretch to keep the Negan involved has reached the point of comedy at this stage. That literally was the most absurd attempt at creating faux drams I have ever seen

It's not "The Negan" and it's "Drama"

How this show became a hit is beyond me.

I watched the first season and had to stop.

It seems like most fans hate it, too, yet it gets great ratings.
I thought last nights episode was at least

Interesting compared to the unwatchable ponderous drek they put out there since it returned from its mid season hiatus. But this year has been really bad and th writers don’t want acknowledge or don’t care they are losing fans.

It's ratings have steadily dropped. The first few seasons were really good, as far as a *zombie* show based on a comic can be. Its just continued to get dumber and dumber since then. Some people are just really loyal followers and will continue to watch it no matter how laughable the plot becomes.
I actually enjoyed last night
ShockNRoll : 3/19/2018 8:28 am : link
after thinking the first bunch of episodes in season B were not good. I really like Negan, in fact, he's the only character I really like on the show, but it is time to end the conflict with him. I believe this will happen for the season finale. After reading the comics, I am disappointed in the way the Negan conflict has been written in the show. I like the way his character has been developed, but the "war" element is just riddled with stupidity. From all the Alexandria/Hilltop/Kingdom people inexplicably shooting out windows, wasting tons of ammo at the sanctuary, to Darryl leading an assault on the sanctuary with no support, to Tara trying to kill Dwight in the woods...it's just hard to watch. I get they want to extend this Negan conflict as long as they can, and I also know it's a fictional TV show, but it's getting to the point I don't even really look forward to the show anymore. I still like the show, but it might be time to start wrapping it up.
I stopped watching years ago.
Tom from LI : 3/19/2018 8:30 am : link
It was too repetitive. To me it was not even interesting anymore.

They should have a new breed of walkers that actually run and are smarter.. sort of like I am legend. That would re-juice the series.

My wife still watches but I haven't since the fall of the governor season.

weeg in the bronx : 3/19/2018 9:09 am : link
For the show. He falls twenty feet through a floor and bounces right back! Supernegan! This arc has dragged on far too long, and they know it as evidenced by the emphasis on gratuitous guts and Gore. Zombie intestines can only carry things so far. Sadly I'm hooked and will suffer til the end. Unless Megan survives this season. Then I am done.
The Negan vs Rick scene was idiotic
Jay on the Island : 3/19/2018 9:10 am : link
and predictable. Everyone watching knew what was going to happen. Rick has him beat several times but of course he goes into several monologues allowing Negan to survive. Then Negan runs away with Rick right behind him but Rick runs outside and Negan is gone. So Jadis just happened to run into them, knock out Negan, throw him in her car, and drive away in a matter of seconds?

The show is ridiculous and tiresome at this point, especially with preposterous sequences like this one. Rick also has terrible aim for a former police officer. I'm just watching out of force of habit. It's definitely "jumped the shark."

LOL, awesome, you win the thread.

I like Negan, Simon, and I like Dwight. If they actually spent some time developing Daryl a bit more he could be very compelling but they have so many characters that they can't devote enough time to many of them, even very important main characters, so everyone's arc is a little watered down except for Rick and a couple of others.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is just so talented an actor that every time he has a scene it's enjoyable. Dwight I don't understand how he hasn't snapped, but his character is compelling. But there are so many characters that suck now. Maggie sucks right now. Ezekiel sucks. Rosita could be so much more but they ignore her, so she sucks. Tara sucks. Eugene sucks, Father Gabriel sucks, Aaron sucks, Morgan used to be awesome and now he's starting to suck, Paul Rovia sucks (I can't use our Lord and Savior's name followed by "sucks"), Enid sucks, Gregory sucks, Jadiss REALLY sucks but she was actually ok in the episode where all her people get killed, but actually she still sucks.

The actually screwed up by killing off some of the more awesome characters in the show, like Abraham and Sasha. But honestly they need that cast to be a lot smaller and they'll have a better show. If the writers could focus on just Daryl, Rick, Carol, Michonne, Morgan and maybe one more, a make it a true survival show and not just a gang-war show with zombies they'd be so much better off.

I was rooting for Negan to kill Rick
fkap : 3/19/2018 3:50 pm : link
but even though they killed off the seemingly untouchable Carl, I figured they wouldn't kill off an also seemingly untouchable Rick. Still, a boy can dream.

From the start, Rick has been an incredibly horrible hero figure.

2 or 3 years into the apocalypse, no one has thought of going to your local library and digging around the basement for old issues of Mother Earth News?

What the heck do all the 'saved' do all day? As best I can tell, the guys go out and force others to grow food, while the women pleasure Negan. Why can't those who are saved grow food? More fun to go on a power trip, I guess.

there's no point in looking for logic in this show.
I thought the last 2 were pretty good episodes,
Mad Mike : 3/19/2018 4:30 pm : link
though I agree wholeheartedly about the ridiculousness of Rick's pursuit of and fight with Negan. It was pretty cool seeing Hillary Clinton show up. She seems to be weathering the apocalypse quite well.
We were loyal viewers until

the mid-season this year. Never missed an episode. Started cheating on TWD with Homeland during the break and we have not looked back. My understanding is that Homeland eventually goes in the crapper too, but season 1&2 have been excellent so far.
I quit watching a long time ago.
giantsfaninphilly : 3/19/2018 10:47 pm : link
After Carl had Negan dead to rights but wouldn’t kill him. Just became a characature play after that and Rick became a total pussy. I haven’t missed it. Too many other good shows to watch..
Best Episode Yet!
