NFT: Midtown or Theater District Restaurant recommendations

Heisenberg : 3/19/2018 11:38 am
Hello BBI hive mind. I'm heading to NYC to see Springsteen tomorrow and want to get dinner before hand. Looking for recommendations.

Whaddya got?!

Anyone been to Butter? We have a reservation there (because we watch the food network, lol). But if there's better ideas out there, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks in advance!

I find keeping it simply is usually the best way to go, like established places like Virgil's or Carmine's. They have a chain vibe and you can do much better in other areas of the city for Italian or BBQ, but if you are there those are the best choices. If you don't mind walking to Fifth or Sixth Avenue, it opens up some steakhouses which are much pricier like Capital Grille and Del Frisco's.

easily. book early, seems like a decent theater crowd. I went the first time at 8:00 pm and the place emptied out right as shows were starting. I have been back since.

get the
Delmonico Steak
King crab mac n cheese
steamed spinach

and a scotch

then enjoy the show

We love to walk all over (although it seems like it will be cold). Thanks for the recommendations!

That all sounds awesome, although I'm more of a bourbon guy.

They have bourbon, probably save you some money too, the single malts there were ridiculously priced.

Sort of on the northern fringe of midtown (W. 60th off Columbus Circle). Fabulous Italian cuisine. Not cheap but if you're up for a great Italian meal and willing to spend a few bucks, I highly recommend it.
Asking for a restaurant recommendation

in Manhattan is difficult- you ask 1,000 people, you will get 1,000 different suggestions. Everyone has their favorites.

I saw the show in October. If you are a fan, you will really appreciate it. It is an awesome show. Some suggestions- eat early, get to the theater by 7:15. You go through security, which moved quickly when I went, but I would imagine the line gets longer as show time approaches.I would rather be twenty minutes early than five minutes late. He goes onstage at 8:03- very prompt. The show is two hours in length.

For a restaurant, it depends what you like and how much money you want to spend. Butter is pricey. And they have a tendency to run 'late'. Plenty of other options if you are worried Butter will not have you on your way in a timely fashion.

Enjoy!!!

That's true. You definitely will get a LOT of recommendations. But it's also a great way to screen the many, many good restaurants in NYC.

Thanks for the tips on the show. I had heard the same info from someone else who went. And sure, Butter is a bit pricey, but less than I paid for tickets, lol.
