Planning a trip to Thailand in November and looking for some insight/recommendations from those who have gone. I'll be going for 3 weeks with just me and the lady (we're 30).
Open to traveling to Cambodia/Laos but don't really wanna spend that much time moving around when we're there.
Last year I received a lot of good tips and places to see/eat in Italy so I'm hoping this works out again.
I took a trip to Bali a few years back and absolutely fell in love. Hoping Thailand has the same effect.
Thanks in advance.
Not necessarily the case, but if it's a beautiful woman who's taller than 5 feet or so? Then yeah, most likely packing a twig a berries. Thai women are generally very short.
BUT...we took a trip up to Chiangmai and it was awesome! Not just culturally and for the chance to walk up a really really long set of stairs to a temple, but also (mostly) because Chiangmai was...at the time anyway...renowned for the beauty of its women. And that was a well-deserved reputation.

I loved it and Phuket is SOOOOOO much more than Ladyboys, Pingpong
shows etc. The problem is that most people don't have the cojones to rent a
motorbike and go explore the island. It has so much to offer and so many beautiful places. November may still have some rain. I just went for a 9 day trip and my friends there said they had rain all the way through December as we did in 2016 as well.
- The food is AMAZING
- The beaches are AMAZING
- The people are the best thing about Thailand
Just stay away from the main tourist traps like Patong/Karon/Kata on Phuket (even though Karon beach is one of my favorites because it is so huge. Stay up north near Layan beach in stead or down near Naiharn. You will have a blast and avoid the huge amounts of Russians.
Samui is not as developed as Phuket and you will find it easier to avoid the crowds. Just stay away from Chaweng - stay in the Maenam or Lamai areas.
My best tip is to rent a bike and go explore. We had bikes for a year and didn't have any crashes. People drive like crazy people - just expect it and avoid the Chinese drivers who take selfies while driving - you will love both these places. For less touristy places you could look into Koh Lanta and the southern islands.
Chiang Mai is a nice trip for jungle and history but I crave beaches so it wasn't my favorite. Bangkok is insane but fun for 2-3 days.
You will love Thailand - we visited Bali and Thailand is ten times as beautiful Imo. And the beaches don't even compare - it's like comparing the Bahamas and the Hudson River.
I strongly recommend taking Air Asia for a trip to Borneo - seeing a male Orangutang in the wild blew my mind.
I hope you'll have the trip of your lives.
Go to the Pat Pong District to walk around for one night it's a Bangkok Bourbon street.
It is one of the highest STD countries.
I highly suggest going to Chiang Mai and spending a little time there. It is much more laid back than Bangkok. Still plenty to do and tons of fun. I recommend going to the Elephant Nature Park sanctuary there. Lots to see there and you learn a lot about the elephants and get to spend time with them. They teach you about how cruel riding elephants is (which is a big money maker with tourists in Thailand) and how wrong it really is.
I would also suggest going to Cambodia. You can fly there really quickly. I went to Siem Reap so that I could see Angkor Wat. Hard to describe Angkor Wat in writing, it is just one of those places you have to see. Siem Reap was fun, Pub Street is the main nightlife area for tourists, lots of cheap bars and food everywhere.
Bangkok was ok for a day or two, but really pretty crazy and hectic. I felt like everyone was trying to scam me ( I was traveling alone so maybe more of a target). Definitely keep your guard up there.
As well, be very careful where and what you eat and drink, we all were very careful and still got bad food poisoning.
Lastly, avoid any kind of show that has any animals in it, the animals are soo mistreated it is really cruel.
You might have a better time than us as we also had kids with us which limited our excursions.
By the way, Bond beach was very dirty, water and the beach itself. I would not go there.
Do I dare ask how?

They work very long hours, walk on ground that is not meant for animals, I saw elephants being beaten by those metal prongs and their enclosures at night are very tiny.
We went on a full day tour by a tour company and one of the stops was an elephant ride and snake show. We walked out of the snake show when the guy handling the snake was making very sexual gestures with the snake, which is highly inappropriate when you have 4 little ones with you.
We did not even consider paying for the elephant ride once we saw what we saw.
I've heard two ways - foo - ket or poo - ket, accent on ket.
