but are we really going to go with Eli Apple as the other outside CB?.. Also, would like some more DEs.. JPP and OV can not continue to play 95% of snaps, especially if the Giants offense continues to be the worst 3 and out team in the league.
As for DE he has added some depth there for the new Defensive Scheme.
keeping Apple is fine and I get it, especially since he was a 10th overall pick, but at least sign someone like Cockrell in case this dude's attitude gets no better.
You add people in March & April . You bring them to camp. You cut to your first 53. You designate a practice squad . The season progresses. 20 guys end up on the IR. You end up with 8 Ball In The Side Pocket starting games 12-16. There is nothing new.
So he is not forced into picking a position of need in the draft. It's a tale as old as time and something Accorsi used to do all the time. Reese too, but he sucked at it in his later years. It is a good strategy.
we are at the bottom of the league in terms of competitiveness Â
if we can get back to average football with depth. That is a big win for us this coming season. We should make an investment in a new QB while doing that. 360 turnaround is a pipedream.
I'd love them to add a reliable CB or two to the roster. Â
The Giants lost all 3 of their STARTING WRs in the same game, they lost OV for 6 games, they lost Collins at times, Jenkins at times, name it, they lost them.. There's no way this talent on the roster is a 3-13 team, not at all.
Now you can argue the depth all you want, but there's no team in the NFL that can afford to lose all those players and still compete.
If they're not very good players and lousy in the locker room, there's no reason to keep them around.
I suspect Gettelman is looking at the roster and addressing both on-field needs and "culture" needs, getting the kind of personalities he wants on the team.
Some of these guys are here to provide depth for training camp Â
Mauro and re-signed Wynn. JPP and/or OV will be playing OLB in our new scheme.
Not so sure about that. I see jpp as an end while OV plays olb. Tomlinson seems like a nice fit in a 3-4 as an end. If I’m not mistaken he played de at bama
will not be here. He seems the odd man out. OV can play outside or standup as it is called but JPP provides little in space and his injury history really limits him going forward.

JPP should be a decent 3-4 DE, no question about his strength. Heck might be a better fit. And Snacks goes back to NT.

Regardless, DG and company know CB is a need (it is every year). LT was a bigger need, which is why we spent our big FA dollars there

...when the refs miss he's holding a handful of jersey.
Then he's real good.

Stop. He doesn't hold nearly as much as the Seahawks DBs do on a regular basis. He is no different than any other DB.
It starts at the top but you need new faces, new attitudes among players as well.
Adding new players, even tor depth and role players is a good thing.
