they would be Red Sox home games (good). It would be in June 2019, apparently the only time a suitable stadium in London is available.
Not sure I like this idea but if they are Red Sox home games that would make it more palatable. Still - all that travel, etc., in the middle of a long season...
per RAB - (

2 games in 5-7 days, then hustling to get the additional 3-4 games lost in the average week.
The upside for Sox fans:
After they finish 3rd, or worse, this year, and suck in '19 up to that date, John Henry may leave Dumbrowski there.
Seems like he might take over for cashman in a decade
AROD in Tampa today ! Do we love AROD or what? - ( New Window )

I'm a Yanks fan but they could easily win the division this year. They have a good team.
Um clearly you haven’t seen the attendance numbers for London football games. There’s a reason they keep doing it and I’ll give you a clue. It isn’t because it’s failing

However, I'm no Dombrowski fan and I think that it's a team ready built for implosion. They have an obscene payroll that is unsustainable with many or most of their core players coming out of team control over the next couple of years. They have no farm system anymore (thanks Dave!) and will win too much to get very many quality picks. Of course, Dave is past retirement age so he can succeed now and walk away from when the flames begin.
As far as London goes...I *hate* this idea. Like Del mentioned, it takes 2 home games away form the Sox, which is hardly fair. You would think that the league would go one and one. It imposes time, travel, and, to an extent, cultural changes in regular season. Most teams, in any sport, take lots of time to recover to norm upon returning, so it hurts the play for games beyond the actual European games.
Exhibition games should be for exhibition season. If the want Euro-entertainment during baseball season, send the circus over.
i dont want to see it opening day

It would be in June per the RAB article linked.
At least in England they have semi-pro football. The closest English game is rounders and IIRC is a girls game.
Stupid Idea.
Polo Grounds redux..Pass

England doesnt want our baseball any more than they want our football. Stop trying to ram it down their throats.

+1. NFL football is much more popular in London than American fans realize.
Congress should pass a law that all major sports leagues operating in the US (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, etc.) must play all regular season and playoff & Championship games at the home field of the home team here in the US, or in Canada if the team's home field is in Canada, with a provision to move to another venue in the US or Canada in the event that the home field is unplayable due to an act of God or other good reason, and will the provision that Championship games may be played at neutral venues within the US (and Canada if applicable).

Congrats, I think you're the only childish Red Sox hater still alive. It's not even a rivalry anymore, get over it.
