Bucky Brooks Mock Draft 3.0 (March 19th)...

M.S. : 3/20/2018 6:45 am
...still has the Giants going Quenton Nelson at #2, allowing the Jets to snag Josh Rosen one pick later.

Here's my opinion / best guess:

(1) The Giants will never gift wrap Josh Rosen to the Jets;

(2) If they do (and decide on Nelson), then Dave Gettleman is real serious about running the ball more often and squeezing whatever's left in Eli's tank;

(3) He has Josh Allen conveniently falling to Buffalo at #12. He may be a less than 60% passer, but he doesn't get past Denver at #5. Buffalo is gonna have to trade way up for their guy.

(4) Huge fan of Quenton Nelson, but he is the wrong guy at the wrong time for the wrong team. Eli's replacement needs to be found this draft.

A great example

Of mocking what you want to happen instead of what will happen.
A Guard at #2? Is he crazy?
Emlen'sGremlins : 3/20/2018 7:04 am : link
Yes! Nelson!!
Imagine the PR is Rosen is a stud

Here's one from SB Nation...

...same date (March 19th), has Josh Rosen going #2 to the Giants.

(And Darnold #1 to Browns and Mayfield #3 to Jets).

IMO, this is the most likely scenario how this Draft unfolds (but maybe Allen replacing Mayfield at #3).

If they don't like Rosen at two,
Ten Ton Hammer : 3/20/2018 7:36 am : link
They'll pick someone else or trade out, but it won't be anything to do with the Jets. The Jets aren't important enough to make business decisions about.
Nelson

Would have to be a sure shot HOF after 10+ years in the NFL much like Thomas. If not any QB the Jets take will be the NY headliner for all those years because of the considerable difference in NFL value for those two positions.
Why would the team take Nelson at #2
Beer Man : 3/20/2018 7:45 am : link
when they can trade back a few slots to a QB hungry team and still grab him? Plus with the Jets at three, someone like the Broncos who are interested in Rosen, would probably offer a sweet deal to leapfrog them. Nelson maybe the Giants first pick, but if it is at #2 then DG would have to be a sleep at the wheel.
The Giants will never gift wrap Josh Rosen to the Jets;

Precisely
No way we take Allen at #2
SGMen : 3/20/2018 7:57 am : link
I still believe a trade will happen and the Giants will take a "HAUL" of picks and still get a top guy. The Giants have many needs so RB Barkley, OL Allen, QB, whatever, are all in the "MIX" if you ask me.

We take ROSEN and KEEP him if we think he is the next Giants QB of the future. Watching behind ELI for say 10 games or so, if the Giants are "out of contention" for the playoffs, well you insert Rosen for some experience and see how it goes.

I'd SCREAM if they took an OL with #2 pick in draft.

For the Jets, they have to win now. Sure they got a 39 McCown to hold the fort, but Bowles and the GM only have a 2 year extension. Mayfield or Rosen is their guy.
Yawn

....
Mayfield does seem to be a Jet type of pick there
Jimmy Googs : 3/20/2018 8:13 am : link
Bucky steadfast we are going Nelson for whatever reason. Agree that’s flawed as you would move back at that point and get extra value...
I think we pick Rosen or
Rjanyg : 3/20/2018 8:34 am : link
We trade with Denver and they pick Rosen and we pick Nelson at 5. The only other scenario I see is trading with Cleveland at 4 they get Barkley at 2, we draft Nelson at 4.
Is Baker Mayfield...
M.S. : 3/20/2018 8:36 am : link

... a 50-yar reincarnation of Joe Namath to the Jets?
If Barkley is there
HoustonGiant : 3/20/2018 9:05 am : link
and we pick at 2, we're taking Barkley.
Seems To Me
Bernie : 3/20/2018 9:05 am : link
the trade partner for the Giants is Denver if the Giants are not in on the QB's. Pick up a bunch of picks and then get 1 of Chubb, Nelson or Barkley.
So according to Brooks
lugnut : 3/20/2018 9:14 am : link
We're taking a position (OG), one of five that blocks for the RBs, instead of taking the generational/transformational RB. Makes perfect sense.
I do not agree
mdc1 : 3/20/2018 9:29 am : link
with a guard at #2. Nelson is not THE GUARD that would actually justify a pick at 2 either.
Brooks
allstarjim : 3/20/2018 9:29 am : link
Is one of the the worst prognosticators of the draft of the major names out there.

Even Kiper is better. I do enjoy Brooks' analysis from time to time, but he is terrible at mocks.

Maybe we trade Eli to them for a first rounder and they can roll the dice with another Manning and SB.

Eli has a no trade clause so he has to approve any trade
