Every year when the Giants play poorly there is a discussion whether it is better for the Giants to win a meaningless game or to lose.
There are cogent arguments for both cases, but, I think that this year goes to demonstrate the benefit of losing and the value of picking higher in the draft.
The Giants lost (5) out of there last (6) games assuring them the second pick. The Washington game that they won was meaningless in the standings.
By losing these games and despite the pain of the loses, the Giants acquired the second pick.
The second pick can be a franchise altering pick for the next 10 years.
The Giants can select their QB of the future, or a generational RB, or hall of fame OG, or they can trade out and acquire multiple picks to rebuild the roster.
Just think how you would feel if the Giants won two more meaningless games and had the 7th - 9th pick.
Please let next year be better..I can’t take another shit season.
Obviously everyone wants the Giants to have the highest draft pick possible.
But since we know (I hope we know) that your emotions had zero impact upon the Giants, then what is the f*ing purpose of this discussion? Geez Louise.
Hopefully don't see this high of pick again for awhile if at all, thus, when here get the franchise qb with a class like this esp. more so with a 37 yr old qb now.
lol
If you want to root for a team that throws away games and has a loser mentality, good luck ever seeing a Super Bowl championship. Those are the teams that fold when things get difficult.
Bobby Hart decided he was going to be a loser, and he got cut.
Gettleman said he wants players that hate to lose...because they always play hard no matter what. You can't foster that sort of mentality if you are going to tell your players to throw games just because you want a higher draft pick in April.
Cleveland owns the first AND fourth picks of the draft, but we control it, not them. Got it.
