Kim Jones on WFAN said the Giants are absolutely in love with Barkley. They believe he can do it all. can line up outside as a WR in sets, can catch outta the back field, can block line OL, and of course his running.. just passing this along.
Go all the way back to the 2000 draft and look at all of the 1st round picks at RB and see how many won a Superbowl and then how many were the reason they won. There are some Superbowl wins but none were the deciding factor in the game. It's gotten worse in the last 10 years too. It's a passing league.
All I am saying is that the value doesn't appear to be there taking a RB at pick 2. Elliott may be the one but he has had one of the best Old and his yards per carry dropped a whole yard last year from 5.1 to 4.1. Remains to be seen.
That makes no sense because the Eagles won the Super Bowl last year with Foles. Will Davis Webb be better than Foles with Shurmur coaching him? Probably.....
It's the team improvement that occurs with a generational back like Barkley. He improves both the offense and the defense (i.e., clock control).

Remember, he is the most durable QB of his genre, and has some peers (e.g., like Brees) who is older and still in great shape (as Eli is).

Give Eli a coach who knows what he is doing and put him in a system where he can excel and you may see Eli finding the fountain of youth.

We had one of the worst offenses in the NFL, but it was everyones fault but Eli. Anyone suggesting that Eli still has a lot left is basing that all on hope. All of it. Everything I have seen for the last two years leads me to believe that he's in a stead decline, but again, it's not his fault...its everyone elses.

Saquon IMHO is the best RB to enter the league in a LONG time BUT Sam Darnold IMHO is the best QB to enter the league in a LONG time great draft to have top two pick

There are some wild takes on here. From: "these QBs aren't any good" to "just trade down and draft a QB (that doesn't actually exist and nobody sees coming) next year"
But that doesn't mean they will take him over a franchise QB.

It’s a real problem around here. You get the sense some of these posters expect to see a completely finished product at the college level. And only that can warrant using a high pick. Marino was a complete outlier how quickly he adjusted and succeeded at the NFL. And that was a bit hard to see coming after his horrible senior year at Pitt.
Truth is all evaluators are hoping to see enough skill and flashes to reduce the learning curve. And then it’s up to hard work, good coaching and game experience to shrink that learning curve arc. Peyton Manning threw a 100 interceptions his rookie year (close to 30 actually). So expect a lot of failure early...
Of course this inevitably leads to this - to sit or not to sit? That is the very big question...
a former student of mine,Saeed Blacknall, excelled. In the 40 he ran a 4.39 while Saquon ran a 4.40. He's a 6-3 215 WR who didn't get consistent playing time from Franklin (he'd be in 1 0ffensive Series of 3 on rotation during a game) so the Pro Day was a time for scouts to see him. He probably will go 6-7th round or as a UFA based on what I've seen/read. He can return kicks & has a great set of hands along w/his speed.PSU,when they used him(I"m NOT a Franklin fan),used him as a deep threat many times. I hope he's on the Giants radar,probably as a UFA!
And the guys who do "look" like that are just as capable of failing. You want a sure thing when there isn't one.
