I think it is really a positive that there was no indication that this was coming. Have they learned to actually control leaks. No one knows what the Giants are doing. Its great!
Correct. The critical decisions remain to be seen. 1) did he make the right decision for HC, 2) what does he do with the pick @2, and 3) how does he handle the Odell contract situation. Those decisions will make or break the early part of his time here. The rest is small potato's.
Is dominating the off season. He’s finding a way to compete now while also rebuilding for the future. Having 4 picks (possibly more) in the top 70 is awesome. Getting rid of that awful JPP contract and clearing the way for money for OBJ and LC, awesome. Very happy so far.
I will wait to see what happens on the field first, personally..
I will say, the off-season being my favorite part of the year, I love that we don’t know what’s going on for once... there was no talk about JPP being on the trade block... no one knows what’s going on at 2... there’s word of trading up.. there’s word of trading down...
We need long term CAP space for Collins and OBJ... This was the perfect move. Now I only hope they don't try to do temp fixes and hope for a SB run but rather build this team gradually and for the long term..
he has done so far. Gotta see the full plan come together but so far so good. Do not be surprised to see a trade down and maybe one more player traded away. They are clearing cap space for the future here and looking to build through the draft.
don't you love these DG moves. I have no issue with people guessing if it will work out or not, but this is a bottom line business--these moves will be easily judged in two to three years, not two to three minutes after a trade.
as of now, what is our starting OL and how much really better is it than last year's. Solder is an upgrade, but we lost two guys who got huge contracts and brought in Omanereh. I am not sure our line is significantly better yet. It is a long work in progress.

I think it is a good idea to ask users of the site how they vision the trade? Do you think it was a good move or not - that is why we are here. Making things happen in March of 2018. We are coming for you Philly!

Hopefully today's trade is the first of many similar moves Â

There are very few moves that cannot be explained in a rational way to be justified by someone who has reached the Apex of his profession. I think the JPP move was great, I think Solder signing was good, not so hot on the Omanareh signing or Ogletree, but we will see. I understand this is a message board and everybody should write their opinion, my opinion is that nobody has the first-darn clue what these moves will be and I feel like after every move people feel the need to congratulate DG. And, I think they are just as "reactive" as the people who overreact and say every move is the end of the world, etc. That's my point

so you are mixed on the moves?... you could have gone with this. but instead said that everyone shouldnt think this way but should instead think like you.
The entire FO really needed a culture change.
Dormant ownership, poor evaluations, too many projects and Reach's, waiting too long to remove unproductive players( the JPP of TEs:-)), insane contracts.
An ass kick to everybody, including JM.
That alone is worth an A+.

...lots of activity and change needs to result in better results. I believe he viewed the status quo to not be acceptable (to an extent), so my guess he is not done dealing, and then there is the draft.
I looked at this job as either a 2 year retool or a 3 year total rebuild altogether, and from what I have seen - DG is going for the 2 year retool so far.

But DG's tenure has clearly not been "business as usual" so far, as so many people thought the hire was.
No way we'll get rid of Marc Ross...
No way we'll get rid of Tom Quinn...
We'll probably end up with a head coach DG has worked with before...
We'll probably overpay to keep our underachieving O-linemen...
We're stuck with big contracts like JPP's...
Snacks was quoted as saying some NYG were just showing up for the 💰 last season. Adding strong locker room guys at OT and LB, and getting rid of JPP who, diplomatically speaking, was not strong in the locker room is a big plus. I don’t think there is enough recognition of the character deficit on the 2017 NYG.
DRC is still out there. I think Cockrell is too. Â
that the switch to 3-4 wasn't getting enough talk or pub. Now it will. When the Giants change defenses it's a pretty big deal. Changing GMs, coaches mid season all that...big changes sure but when the Giants changed to a 3-4 it definitely got my attention.
I don't think the Giants are as quick to trade off JPP if they stay in the 4-3. ONce they switched things changed.
I see them as somewhat similar to the additions of Antrel Rolle, McKenzie, Pierce, Boley, Canty, Grant, Baas.
Will all of them work out perfectly? Doubt it. But they are all hard nosed additions at positions of need, that are also hard to find. They all have track records of not missing games. Most are young with upside.
Really happy that it wasn't just talk to get tougher upfront.
but then again, most were saying a lot of these very same things about Reese too when he took over for Accorsi (cue the 'NOT ME! I NEVER LIKED REESE!' posts), who everyone thought sucked at the time... but is now getting a lot of the credit for the two Super Bowl wins I'm noticing. Hopefully Getts is able to produce two Super Bowl wins as well.
most were loving what Reese was doing also - signing the blocking TE Ellison, signing Marshall to a reasonable contract to replace Cruz on the outside, allowing Shepard to thrive in the Slot.
If our four top WR all get hurt in week 5 (and OBJ misses the first two weeks again)- they will flounder again. Need to stay reasonably healthy, especially OBJ.
switching to 34 100%
he immediately addressed our two biggest holes. CB is next IMO

The draft is going to be enormous. He's about to make a decision that could impact the organization for 10+ years.

But without the bonus money, he is easily cut next year, if he does not perform this year....
He just might be a 12.5M rental.....

I hated the trade for OJ Anderson for same reason btw.
