Marcus Davenport

I know Chubb is the popular name, and pretty much everyone's #1 defensive end, but is Davenport a player with a higher ceiling? He looked great the week of the Senior Bowl, and I believe the only reason he's ranked behind Chubb is because of the competition he played against in college.

Just wondering what others think of him even if DE is not the pick.
Davenport might be an OLB ER

in a 3-4, while Chubb would be a more traditional DE in either a 4-3 or 3-4.
I think of the two

Davenport is in play for the Giants if they trade down. I don't think either will actually be drafted by the Giants, though. I think Chubb's value to a team is much greater as a 4-3 end, but I think he'll be a very good one.

Davenport I think is a 3-4 OLB. Very interesting player. I do think there will be better players at 12, and that's where the Giants would maybe consider him as a likely landing spot in a trade down.
Seems his projection is in the 10-20 range

I don't think NYG will fall back that far and that's out of our range when considering a trade up with our 34. If he gets into the 20's I'd move up for him.
is Davenport a player with a higher ceiling?

No. Chubb's ceiling is also extremely high. That's why he's Mayock's #3 overall player.
^^^that said you could argue...

...Davenport and Landry may be better scheme fits than Chubb for the defense we all expect Bettcher to favor.
Here is a take on
