Schefter mentioned something yesterday about the possibility. Then the day after Darnold's pro-day the Giants deal one of their few tradable assets for a draft pick.
and the Giants covet one of them. It would make sense for Cleveland to switch spots, pick up an extra pick or two, and guarantee themselves Barkley at #4.
Now that it is apparent the Giants are going to a 3- 4 who still Â
I think a third this year and a third next year should be good enough. What does the value chart say?
If you're the browns, and someone wants your pick, why wouldn't you drill them for everything you can get? I wouldn't even pick up the phone unless I was getting at least a 2nd round pick as a starting point.
It's much more likely the Browns want Chubb and were hoping to get him at 4. Now with this trade they fear the Giants take him and offer the Giants some of their picks to move up to 2. God knows they have enough picks to do it.

Ok so pretend you are Dorsey, DG offers you their Bucks third rounder and second rounder next year. Would you take it when you know you can get Allen at #2 or Rosen and Chubb or Barkley at #4
I could see him using it to trade into the bottom of the first to pick Â
I'm sure they feel it is time to start cashing in on some of their picks. As it is, they are building a strong young core, which should only improve with picks 1 and 4

Totally agree and why I can see them using a couple of those picks to move up from 4 > 2. Even more so now if it's Chubb they were targeting at 4.
I think they want everyone to think they want Barkley at 4, but really want to pair Chubb with Garrett on their D Line, and now get antsy with the Giants trading JPP.
Barkley, Nelson and Chubb are at the top of our board... Depending on what Cleveland does with 1.. I can see a trade down... Going to evaluate Webb for another year and stash picks to help move up to get Jake Fromm in 2020. DG LOVES Jake Fromm, kinda like the rug loved Eli.

So you want to trade down and get picks that we will need to trade next year to get Fromm? LOL WOW

What happened to all that Darnold love? He left USC after all.
What did Bears give up to move up 1 spot last year? Â
The Browns move up from 4 to 2 than the Giants moving from 2 to 1. To give up the right to draft the 1st player is going to cost more than 2 3rd round picks. We just got a 3rd rounder for JPP.
They could get more from the Jets to move to 3 if they want Allen. Jets take Rosen, Giants take Darnold they get Allen.
Unless they are not taking a QB I think they have to show their fans that this is our guy, this is the guy we wanted. The Browns are the worst franchise in the NFL, they need to pick 1st or get a major haul.

That’s nonsense. He’s not making decisions now based on some QB possibly coming out in 2 seasons. That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve read up here

I think you might have hit on something here Eman11. Good post.

I think THIS would be terrific, and possibly best-case for the Giants, all things being equal (and us not REALLY knowing squat about which guys will work out, and which ones will flop).
What would the Browns be willing to give, realistically, to move up from 4 to 2?
want Chubb, I think I would have conversations with Dorsey, unofficially of course, that if he can’t get the QB he wants, either at 1 or 2, then he would take Chubb, since they traded JPP. It gives us some leverage to make Cleveland more plyable. This is a high stakes poker game and the future of the franchise is at stake. Time to have some brass ones!!
He could go that way but I think there's something else.... Â

First - Thanks T
Second - I don't know what the Giants could get for trading back to 4 ( I'm sure there are many here who know much more about that than I do) but I'd love to see them at least start with one of the Browns early 2nd Rd picks and go from there.
If DG doesn't want a QB at 2, he could still get his guy at 4 after QBs go 1-2-3 and get some a nice bonus package.
so you have to figure he has a plan in place to draft a replacement so they really need to trade back now and get another pick to select a DE maybe chubb was his target all along

Now Slade is just ripping off information he read from JonC, hitdog, or Eric plus making up the Fromm rumor because as of now Fromm is one of the favorites to go #1 overall in 2020 so of course DG will love him if he develops as expected. F off
At this point he is trying to acquire more picks to address the many needs of a bad team. Plus, unless he decided that Darnold is the guy, and that he should make every attempt to get him, then there really is no reason to even approach Cleveland about a trade-up
say
barkley at 2
hernandez at 26
give #34 #69 and next year 3rd
maybe even lamar jackson???
still own our 3rd and 4th rounders

It's not out of the question.
It says no chance
The Giants take Darnold, Browns take Allen and Jets take Rosen, that leaves the Browns locked at Chubb or Barkely at #4
So Browns end up with Allen, Chubb-Barkely, extra 3rd this year and extra third next year.

3, 67, 111, and a 3rd rounder the next year.
Like I said last night. Stupidity
