I was wondering whether anyone here who watches college football more intently than I do has any sense of how next year's QB class might shape up compared to this year's?
I realize that it's impossible to say anything with any degree of accuracy until the end of the next college season, but I was wondering if there was a rough, from-the-gut consensus on how the two classes stack up against one another.
Obviously I'm asking (in the event that we trade down and get an eextra 1st round pick next year) on the off chance that there might be a better QB crop next year.
You're going to hear names like Lock/Missouri, Stidham/Auburn (who I really like), Patterson/Michigan, Grier/WV, Bryant/Clemson (could be very interesting)...

There's a kid from North Western as well.

It looks average at best.

Clayton Thorson - he really looks like a Trevor Siemian clone... ;)

I have followed Northwestern since the mid nineties. Thorson is no Siemian clone. Thorson is a much better QB in every aspect of the game.
The kid from Clemson is nice too. I saw them play last season. The kid has a cannon.
I think he has a good chance to be the best of the whole bunch. When I watch him, I see a high-end franchise QB. Really nice release, accurate, throws a good deep ball and has a lot of touch.
And who is that?
None on the 2019 QBs would top the list if you combined the two classes.

did not come out this year

That is probably true, but this time next year that sentiment might change. These kids still have another whole year to perform, to practice, to develop, to be coached and grow as players. Their collegiate accomplishments are still being written, so you can't evaluate them a year early against this class, it's not fair to them.
Other guys who might be decent...
Jarrett Stidham, Auburn
Nick Fitzgerald, Miss St.
Ryan Finley, NC St.
I also like Jake Bentley out of S. Carolina if he leaves early.
None of these guys are overly exciting though.
He should be a top draft pick and a very good NFL QB when he comes out

Fromm will be top of the crop in two years barring any injury. I would take him over all the guys this year. Kid is a natural athlete, with all the intangibles and guts you want in a QB. Great arm and accuracy.

That remains to be seen. Similar athletes, but still needs a lot of work on his throwing game...See the Alabama playoff game...
