Future QB

Giants1975 : 3/22/2018 11:56 am
I will be shocked if Giants don’t go QB number one now with trade of JPP look at roster they have no one really locked up past next year that they really can’t get out of ...its seems to me it one more year for Eli and try and win but if they lose they can go in complete rebuild with very healthy cap and roster
Yes, it does look like QB,
Doomster : 3/22/2018 12:08 pm : link
unless the first one taken is the one the Giants wanted, and the rest are not rated high by the Giants....

So if someone comes knocking, we possibly trade down if the deal is right.....

I'm not thinking Barkley now.....
So, are you saying
Emil : 3/22/2018 12:14 pm : link
that next year the Giants can begin a real rebuild? I can see why you would say that given the contracts.

Not so sure that is what is going on. I think it will be more of surround Eli with talent this year, add to that talent next year in order to support whomever the heir apparent is. I think it will be more of a process, with an emphasis on still fielding a competitive team.
The Giants could shock the world
mrvax : 3/22/2018 12:14 pm : link
and grab a QB like Kyle Lauletta in round 2.
I think it has always been Rosen
Vanzetti : 3/22/2018 12:17 pm : link
In this era of mobile QBs, Allen and Darnold could turn out to be better. But Rosen is the safest bet. He is basically another Eli. Probably will never be the best QB in football but will be a top ten QB for a decade

Please no to Rosen.

I don’t think you take on 15 million in dead money if you are going for it this year. They could have restructured JPP and opened more cap space this year but they decided to take a big hit this year to free up future cap space.

Not trying to be a know it all, but I really think taking a huge dead money hit this year signals rebuild

Please yes to Rosen.
Not Sure Anyone Should Be Shocked if No QB @ 2
TheVette : 3/22/2018 12:35 pm : link
Why would that be so shocking? If the Giants see the BPA as Barkley, Chubb, and Nelson - why would anyone be shocked if they chose one of those guys, or moved down to take advantage of a desperate team?

As for the transition from Eli to ???. My guess is DG has seen the same tape of Webb, as he has seen on the 4 QBs here. I know many are clamoring for a QB at 2, but do not be surprised if the Giants go BPA. Yes - it would nice if the BPA was also a QB - like it was with Peyton Manning, but that's not the case. We will all learn more about how DG views this team based on the #2 pick.

I think Rosen can be a better pro than any of those guys. He has elite anticipation and ball placement skills. What more do you want from a QB prospect. He has a chance to be Tom Brady.

I just don't understand the hate for Rosen. He has some elite skills and has a chance to be great in this league.
Cant see taking a QB...
Rory : 3/22/2018 1:26 pm : link
Giants just opened up a ton of cap space for a reason.

IMO they want OBJ and Eli to play together for another 2 years, have Webb waiting in the wings. Resign LC and set themselves up at the DE spot with a young superstar DE on a rookie contract to pair with Vernon.

I would pump the brakes on the Tom Brady comparisons.

I'm not saying he is, or that it is likely, but he has elite skills you need to even be in that conversation. Meanwhile I have to sit through post after post where Barkley is said to be a better version of: Adrian Peterson, Barry Sanders, Matt Forte, Zeke Elliott, Todd Gurley... If they can say Barkley can be better than those guys I can say Rosen has the potential to be Tom Brady.
