Swapping with Cleveland and taking Chubb at #4

Gothamist : 3/22/2018 3:50 pm
Assuming that Chubb is your pick...

Do you just grab him ar #2 or is it realistic to believe you can squueze out more by trading down a few picks playing into other GM’s emotions?

Obviously, if Gettleman wanted that he would have proposed that before the JPP deal. Yet Tampa probably needed a fast decision on JPP.

It seems like a longshot to get Cleveland to believe now that they will not get Barkley at #4.

What if Elway really wants the #2 would swap after the picks are made can Chubb be available at #5 and the Browns will definitely pass on Chubb?

What about that QB project Denver took on a couple years ago? Denver is moving on? They will seek a QB in this draft?

I throw this out for though we all know have a core nucleus that the Giants have little depth and getting a high #2 pick from Cleveland even in a so so draft may be a nice result of extra work?.

Imagine this, post Reese many of us are thinking that trading down a #1 is not far fetched anymore?
Assuming their 1st is a QB,

it depends on what you think CLE will do with the 2nd pick. If they're trading up, I would assume it would be for Barkley, but they could envision a Chubb/Garrett tandem at DE. That would be terrifying for opposing OC's.
Only if you don’t want a QB

And are fine with Barkley, Chubb or Nelson.

I believe that's exactly what Cleveland wants and all the talk of them wanting Barkley at 4 by the pundits is wrong or just a misdirection on the Browns part.

In fact, I think the trade of JPP today has them worried a bit the Giants might take Chubb at 2, and be enough for Cleveland to offer up some picks to go from 4-2.

Even if Dorsey all along wanted Darnold and Barkley the Garrett/Chubb tandem may st be incredibly tempting and obviously could be quite a dreadful memory to Steeler fans...

Yet, is there a way to get Chubb and via trade add a pick?
Why would Cleveland do that?
Bill L : 3/22/2018 4:04 pm : link
If we preferred Barkley or Chubb we would just pick them at 2. The jets are taking a qb. So, is the point that Cle sends as an inducement to not pick Barkley at 2? It’s not like someone is going to jump in front of them at 4 to steal their pick.

Yeah, the only reason they would do it is that they don't know what the Giants will do. If they really like Chubb, and are concerned NYG will take him, they can send out signals about really liking Barkley, and convincing DG to move down a couple of spots.

They'd do it if they really wanted one of those two players and feared the Giants would take him or trade back to someone else enabling them to take the guy the Browns really want.

Personally, I think the Browns really want Chubb, and the JPP trade today makes the Giants bargaining position with them even stronger.

Would that go anywhere? The Giants, after trading JPP are not budging on Chubb at #2 and all Cleveland can do is take him at #1 ?

I'm not convinced the Giants want Chubb and don't really think the trade today is an indication they do.

If they don't want a QB, I think they really want Barkley or Nelson but might not think they're the best value at #2. Same with Chubb at 2 for the Giants.

I think they probably feel the best value at 2 is a QB, but might only like one of them (Darnold) so trading back a bit if the QB is gone and getting either of those other three at #4 plus some picks maximizes their position.

needs to get the fanbase jacked after last seasons shitshow. Chubb is not the way to do that. Its Barkley or Darnold/Rosen.

I revisit watching Lawrence Taylor highlights every couple of years.
He sure did not need any schemes up front to create excitement in the fanbase.

The old crusty fanbase I know would pick LT every single time!
In fact the ones I know would pick Barkley only after both lines were solid.

You need to disrupt the QB, you need to get critical first downs in the fourth quarter and at times having alphas win one on one battles may be the only way to clinch a victory.

The W column!

Yet if Darnold was there at #2 I would take him...

That would be fine
RAIN : 3/22/2018 5:10 pm : link
I'd only do it, if Darnold wasn't there. If Rosen's medicals and grade don't hold water, then we trade down for Barkley, Chubb, or Nelson in that order.
Trading down with Broncs would be too risky, as
Simms11 : 3/22/2018 5:21 pm : link
Chubb seems to be a guy the the Colts covet at 4, and so, if we want him, we probably have to take him at 2.

Correction, they could still trade down to 5 and get Chubb. I forgot the JETs traded up with the Colts. So yea, they could trade down, pick up an extra few picks and still get Chubb. That would be the plan, if there’s no QB or Barkley in their plan.

Lest week had the Giants wanting Barkley and everyone here is like ...that’s who Cleveland wants, maybe they will trade up to 2 and take him..oh..oh..oh...

Today it’s omg We really want Chubb but that’s who Cleveland wants so maybe they will trade up to get him...even though we want him...and they would trade with us...

It makes your head spin.
I thought one of the most logical of the scenarios
DonnieD89 : 3/22/2018 5:36 pm : link
came from Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller today, saying you trade down with the Jets to #3, don't be greedy and ask for the Jet's 3rd round pick, take one of Chubb, Barkley or Nelson, and use your three 3rd rounders to move us to the 2nd round. You still win.

You could only get the Jets to move up if one of Cleveland or Denver want to as well. The Giants have to have a plan for all scenarios.
