NGT: Patriots QB

Giantimistic : 3/22/2018 6:11 pm
We keep hearing about all the teams that will be out for Quarterbacks, but I haven't heard much about the Patriots and I live in Massachusetts even. Now that they traded away Garapolo and Brissett. They will most likely take a quarterback. Maybe even end of first round or second. Then again maybe they will wait to the 6th round--they had luck there before.

I am just curious who the mastermind will take and groom for Brady's replacement. There is a good chance the next one they take will take over for Brady or at least have a shot. Watch him come away with the best QB in the draft.

End of the first.
BB fails a lot as a GM

I don’t know why it’s automatically assumed his QB selection will not only worked out but be the best.

Book it.
I think
Sammo85 : 3/22/2018 6:31 pm : link
they are a strong potential dark horse team for Mason Rudolph.
Similar situation to

the Giants except we pick #2 in the draft. Both teams need new guns sooner rather than later.
see them picking up

Benkert or the kid from Richmond, lauletta or however you spell it.

Everything is a crap shoot with the draft and he does mess up a lot, however, Brady was a 6th round and Garopolo was the 62nd pick in a draft that saw 4 quarterbacks go before him:

Blake Bortles: TBD but avg so far
Johnny Manziel: we all know
Teddy Bridgewater: Injury
Derek Carr: Great

Although, he may get it wrong, he just seems to know what will work best in his system and how to coach them up.
My guess

the get the most underrated QB in this class Luke Falk in like the 2nd or 3rd. Kid can play.
Don't forget Belichick
pjcas18 : 3/22/2018 6:54 pm : link
also drafted Ryan Mallett (3rd round) Kevin O'Connell (3rd round), Rohan Davey (4th round) (just with top 4 round picks) - not counting Brissett.

so no, he doesn't always know what will work from a QB standpoint, he gets as lucky (or unlucky) as everyone else.

Good point, didn't think about them.
I’m aware of Brady’s draft status

but the rest is meh besides JG (who still has a lot to prove). And then also factor in these guys are all going to franchises that put up 4 wins or fewer and not being drafted to the Pats.
Lauletta to pats

Could definitely see it. Father played at the Naval Academy...Belichick’s favorite place on the planet... Obviously not a major reason to draft him, but I’m sure Belichick would like the environment Lauletta grew up in...

Another possibility

Logan Woodside from Toledo. Falk and Lauletta are intriguing options for the Giants as well if they don't go QB at #2.
