Round 2 : Picking a corner that needs seasoning, your help?

Gothamist : 3/23/2018 7:42 am
I was overlaying SPARQ rankings with basic prospect lists looking at Josh Jackson of Iowa and Mike Hughes of Central Florida.

Very rudimentary. I am looking at websites.

Can the 2018 Giants be content with Hughes as a returner, special teamer and dime back in the later games?

On Jackson, what about his ball hawk skills vs vulnerability to the fake? Do you get nervous to risk a number two despite his great instincts?

Anyone looking at prospects who may be around in round two and to not only get the best on the board but a great SPARQ athlete that the new DC focuses on?

It would be fine by me if they see James Daniels from Iowa to back up Brent Jones. Anyone evaluate OL prospects that might be on the board?
If we come away with James Daniels

I really prefer he start at guard or move Jones to guard.
Kolton Miller or Wil Hernandez

Need to come away with an young hog mollie at OT or OG.
How about CB Jaire Alexander (if still available) in round two?

And Frank Ragnow (if still available) in round three?

Jaire has excellent talent and a high football IQ to play his position at a pro bowl level for the team that selects him. He shows on film the speed and quickness to cover any size receiver and the ability to play in any style of defensive scheme, zone, or single coverage. He is smart and shows leadership skills and communicates well with his teammates in the back field. He understands when and where his help is on any given play and will intercept the ball but only taking calculated chances to jump routes and make plays. He’s a playmaker for you defense and for your return units on special teams. Jaire’s cover skills are the best in this draft and he is very adept at limiting run after the catch yardage because of his sure tackling.

Frank reminds me a lot of former Bills center Eric Woods. He is a powerful and smart run blocker with good overall athleticism to play in any style of offensive blocking scheme. He has repetitions at both the center and the right guard positions and has played at a very high level at both of those positions. He does a solid job when pass blocking making all the snaps and getting out of his stance with surprising quickness. Frank is very adept at picking up stunts when pass blocking and might be one of the best centers at making combo blocks and blocking on the second level because of his understanding and feel for timing and angels. He is big, strong, and athletic enough to be used on sweeps and screens and does a good job blocking in open space. Frank plays his position with good balance when run blocking and pass blocking and that allows him to play with excellent techniques. There aren’t very many centers in any draft that have the size, strength overall athletic talent and that play the position with the balance and techniques that Frank has. The fact that he can play center or guard at a high level makes him a top interior offensive lineman in this draft.

Price and Wynn are two other OLs who may be available

But have a feeling that those two, and Hernandez, will be gone by 34.
I'd be thrilled with Josh Jackson

on Brandon Fayson.

He had a few injuries while at Virginia Tech, but when he is healthy he's a real talent.
It's a fairly deep draft for CBs.

With the old regime, I'd expect a CB to be drafted relatively early. With this new regime? Your guess is as good as mine.
