Was on around 7:35 talking trade of JPP, #2 pick etc... In short, said that he has contacts inside the org. and that the only QB the Giants want is Sam Darnold.
Also said he feels that the Giants will likely trade out of the #2 spot, most likely down, but don't rule out trading up. lol.
I doubt we trade for #1.
Again will people stop with that. An OL getting a concussion is far different from your QB getting concussed. Rosen has had 2 in one year and injured his shoulder. He has injury red flags. Thats just a fact. You cant say oh well once hes here itll be far behind him. No. Hes already shown that hes prone to getting injured. That may or may not continue in the NFL but Im not willing to risk everything that it wont.
Hes the QB. He has a bullseye on his back. The hits in the NFL will just get harder not softer. On top of that the guy cant move to save his life. Hes gonna get hit and hit hard. If in college hes already shown he can get multiple concussions thats a serious issue. If youre QB is in the concussion protocol and misses a game or playing time that is going to alter your game plan a lot more than if your lineman gets concussed.
If the team sees him in this light, and they would not be alone, then sending our 2nd round pick to Cleveland to secure him is nothing. Over the course of the next 14 years, no one would blink at it if they were right.
I wouldn't hold out much hope for Darnold though. That Haslem was in the stands sitting with and talking to Darnold at his pro day is very telling. I actually expect Cleveland to make it known Darnold is their guy at #1 before we get to draft day.
I'm also starting to get the impression that Josh Allen is going to be the guy, and that given a good Pro-Day, he'll be even more sought after.
He's shed some of the inaccurate label with his Senior Bowl showing and Combine workout. If he can learn from Eli after a year or two, he might just be the real deal. Extremely athletic, perhaps the most athletic of this years crop and even last years. He comes across as a sincere, good kid in his interviews and a guy that wants to compete and improve. He might just get taken at #1, provided he has a good Pro-Day and even if he didn't, I think he'd still be in the discussion.
You may not have heard the interview when he said that he has sources. Not just his opinion
"Journalists" need to file stories

he doesn't know anything. We can take Darnold, trade up, or trade down. Thanks.

Him saying it really doesn't make it true. Possible? Sure. People who post on this board claim they have "sources" all the time. Some of them are lying.

I read that he has sources, I just don't think that means anything. He basically said everything is possible, which we already know.
Move to 12 is OK as a second trade down. If we move to 4 or 5 first you would be paid twice for the number 2 pick.
Example: Get pick #5 a 2, a 3, and 2019 #1 from Denver. Get 12, 22, and two number 2 picks from the Bills. We would have 12, 22, 33, 36, two more picks in round 2 and 3 picks in round 3. That is NINE picks in the first three rounds.
Agreed. But if or more likely when Darnold is taken by Cleveland, then you have to at least listen to trade offers.
Rosen is the best player in the draft IMO, but his injury history is troubling. The Giants may also be concerned about his comments and public persona, especially in New York.

Agree, they have to explore every possibility. And afetr the last few days I have n doubt that Gettleman will. Everything is on the table.
Im just a bit concerned about Darnolds setup and how he positions his arm. It seems that is really causing his ball security problem. Eli does the same thing so how bad can it be, right?
I can't take this too costly argument anymore...
Too costly? Was Eli too costly?
If you have to have a guy you get that guy or run the risk of missing out on a game changing talent.
The 2004 draft was loaded too. LOADED. And the Giants traded those oh so valuable chips to move up. They pissed off everyone in the process. Then won 2 super bowls.
If you love Darnold or Rosen or anyone...fucking do it. Don't worry about the draft hounds that can't bear to lose 2-3 picks and screw up their stupid draft boards lined up in momma's basement.
Lol
Pretty sure Canty and his "contacts" knew nothing about the JPP trade before it happened.
Teams don't line up 2-3-4 players and consider then near equals, especially QBs. They vet the shit out of these kids to the point of ridiculousness.
Teams don't say well if we can't get QB1 we will gladly settle for QB2. IT's never that simple.

OK with Darnold at #2, but don't want to trade up for him. The cost would be exorbitant.

It's really a mute point anyway if Cleveland wants Darnold and won't consider any trade of their #1 pick.
ex Giant Canty obviously is either irresponsible by his leak, making it up or intentionally planting mis information.

Chris is onto something. Been saying for months Darnold is the only QB theyd take unless Gettleman disregards his scouts (which I guess is possible).
So he's speculating publicly just let all the players are likely speculating privately.

I don't want Darnold, even at #2. I certainly wouldn't hate the pick, but I don't think any QB is worth the #2 pick.

mute??
I see a lot of comments like this. Does the draft end at six? Every year the top guys in the draft become sensationalized due to the constant chatter. Just turn on the NFLN and they talk about the teams picking in the top 5 everyday and what they might do. A lot of hyperbole comes out of it.
It's fine to not want to move out of the top 6 but the 12th pick offers the Giants a lot of of good players. Top LBS, safeties and corners. All positions of need and of high importance. The top OT in the draft could be available at 12 as well. In a guy like Mcglinchey you could be drafting your starting RT and future LT.
Point being there is a lot of good players in the draft. If you want to stay in the top 5 that's fine but it's not ludicrous to move down to 12 IMO.

Great, Reese got the full blame for the fact that the NYG's draft intentions leaked like a sieve. Looks like some of the scouts like to talk too. That department will need a total rebuild after the draft. (Always wondered if short timer scouts would be more likely to leak to clutivate their outside relationships when they know they could be facing the ax.)
I'm not a professional scout but I've watched as much "tape" as I can on barkley.
Simply typing in Saquon Barkley Vs in youtube brings up a lot of videos showing every carry/touch in an individual game. I see a running back who despite having the size and measurable strength to do it go down easy when met at the line of scrimmage. Just not seeing the push the pile plays.
Now, perhaps because of his superior talent this was something he didnt have to do but I see a bigger Reggie Bush when watching these videos. Am I wrong?

Slade said this in mid-December, before the Gettleman hire. I don't remember Raanan himself taking a firm position on this months ago but I'd be happy to be referred.
I thought that Slade post on Darnold rang true enough but he then followed it up with the post about Darnold staying at USC. That one shortly turned out to be false and trashed his credibility.
