Who is your fan deal breaker on the roster right now?

Miamijints : 3/23/2018 11:53 am
I came home from work last night and my 12 year old son came to me in a panic about JPP being traded. After I talked him off the ledge he finally calmed down and all is ok now.

But it made me question, Who is my deal breaker player as a fan? Who could make me question watching the Giants this year if they released him?

For me it has to be Snacks. I would lose my lid if he wasn't a Giant.
Snacks is a pretty good one
The Dude : 3/23/2018 11:56 am : link
considering his contract is exceptionally fair for the giants. guy is #1 at what he does.
OBJ, Collins, Snacks, Tomlinson, Engram, Solder...that's all there is.

last year didn't do it I guess nothing would completely send me over the edge but Snacks would get close.

There is no scenario where moving OBJ would be a good idea.

there will possibly be a riot.
The question you posed was
jvm52106 : 3/23/2018 12:09 pm : link
is there one player that if they were gone you would question watching the Giants. NO, there is not one single player that would do that for me.

I am a GIANTS fan...
No one
pjcas18 : 3/23/2018 12:09 pm : link
closest I came to having a player I cared about was Tuck then second would be Jacobs.

but at this point in my life as a grown man, I just root for laundry. I'm not quite in Sonny from Bronx Tale land:

Quote:
...Mickey Mantle? That's what you're upset about? Mantle makes $100,000 a year. How much does your father make? If your father can't pay the rent go ask Mickey Mantle and see what what he tells you. Mickey Mantle don't care about you. Why should you care about him? Nobody cares.

But I'm not far off.

If I had to say someone on the Giants, gun to my head, it would be Beckham, but it's purely based on the insanity of some idiot fans who want to trade him or string him along on one year deals. I've said this before, but it's true IMO, GM's live their whole careers hoping to draft a player with Beckham's all-time-great-like elite skills, and some fans here want to trade him or just let him go for more picks to hopefully acquire someone as skilled as Beckham.

Where is the logic in that?
For me it’s ELI ...
Spider56 : 3/23/2018 12:11 pm : link
The jints have been my heroes since 1963 and the most difficult game I ever watched was last year when GS started with a healthy ELi on the bench ... the first time I ever wanted them to not only lose but to get crushed. I know the transition is near but it wasn’t last year nor this.

No one, but I was fairly irate when Eli was benched for Geno.

I doubt I'll have the same passion for the Giants once Eli's gone, though.

It’s the nature of the beast sometimes that your favorite player may not always play for your favorite team. Anybody is moveable at the right price.

Right now my favorite Giant is a tossup between Jackrabbit and Collins. But for the right compensation both could be had.

And on OPs pick of Harrison. You may be a very sad man in a week if what I’m hearing is true.

Kind of a miller from the OP but...

I feel once Eli's gone that my engagement as a fan is going to fall off.

The concussions, the money, the commercials, the injuries, the bullshit contracts, etc... it's getting hard to ignore the negatives of supporting the NFL.

I'll still follow, but I expect to take a step back as a fan.

Brown Recluse : 3/23/2018 12:27 pm : link
The most upset I've ever been as a Giants fan was when Eli was benched for Geno.

The time before that was when Simms was benched for Hostetler.

I was pretty pissed when Shockey was traded, at least initially...until the details behind it came out and I realized it was for the best.

There really isn't anything that could happen now though, that would be a deal breaker. Odell is easily the best player on the team and I'm not really that attached to him.

No one.
Mad Mike : 3/23/2018 12:27 pm : link
I was really pissed when Eli was benched, and I'd be really pissed if they got rid of OBJ. But time keeps moving on, the team is constantly being turned over, and first and foremost that's what I'm a fan of - the team. The frustration of bad moves fades and the team is still there.
Easy...

I call shenanigans. He's the only true NT on the team, he's the best run stuffing DT in the NFL, he's a high character player and a hard worker. How do you even get fair value for him? Picks aren't going to do it, what are you going to hope you get a player as good as him? If the Giants field a team in 2018 Harrison is going to be on it.

Really? I get the talent but I just dont see a scenario where paying a WR that kind of $ when there are clear distraction problems is worth it. To each their own I guess.

They can lose without him and win without him.

if it is as ugly as the Simms exit then I wonder if I may just turn away from football or at least become a much more casual fan. The Giants are the only football team I pay any attention to anymore. Years ago I watched every team's game I could.
There isn't one.
x meadowlander : 3/23/2018 12:58 pm : link
Pretty sure we can do better than last season if you replaced every single one of them.
simms was done when the giants cut him
msh : 3/23/2018 1:08 pm : link
he even addmitted himself they were right and he was too stubborn to see it,thats why i want barkley with him they open the game right up for his old playaction passes has more dangerous receivers than he had in 2007 and they were no slouches either hilliard and toomer were brutally underrated

this team could challenge for a superbowl with the right draft as they did in 2007 eli wins it and goes out at the top with more superbowl wins than peyton that would be the best way for his giants career to end and would make his HoF case iron clad first ballot

i am a giants fan i stayed a fan when simms left, and LT and strahan, its the team you follow not the individual players themselves snacks and OBJ would be bitter pills to lose but it wouldnt end me supporting them
Eli for me
GeneInCal : 3/23/2018 1:10 pm : link
and nobody else is close. I couldn't care less about OBJ. I think he's a tool. Great talent, but I don't care. You can win without him.
If you're a REAL fan,

You realize that players come and go, organizations do questionable- WTH!? things that are unnerving, but you still need to support them, watch the games, and let the results prove the FO right or wrong.
If FANdom is PLAYERdom, you're a watcher, not a team fan.
If you stuck with with the Giants '64-'80+/-, you are a Fan.

the amount is set at a 2nd rounder right now. And Pittsburgh and Houston are the two I hear that are sniffing around.

Simms never said it was the right move... He even spoke about it recently and how stunned he was because he was at the facility and throwing the ball really well. He said he had just tossed one 57 yards and didn't even air it out. Then Dan asks him to come to his office.

It's still one of the dumbest moves the franchise has ever made.

Eli is a staple but he is aging. It's been a few years since I really LOVED a Giant. Strahan for sure and maybe Big Brandon Jacobs was the last.

I have a preference for defensive front 7 impact players nd running backs as my fave. We haven't had one of those truly awesome since Tuck/Osi/Strahan/Jacobs. Sorry JPP wasn't my cup of tea. Harrison could eventually.
