I came home from work last night and my 12 year old son came to me in a panic about JPP being traded. After I talked him off the ledge he finally calmed down and all is ok now.
But it made me question, Who is my deal breaker player as a fan? Who could make me question watching the Giants this year if they released him?
For me it has to be Snacks. I would lose my lid if he wasn't a Giant.
I am a GIANTS fan...
but at this point in my life as a grown man, I just root for laundry. I'm not quite in Sonny from Bronx Tale land:
But I'm not far off.
If I had to say someone on the Giants, gun to my head, it would be Beckham, but it's purely based on the insanity of some idiot fans who want to trade him or string him along on one year deals. I've said this before, but it's true IMO, GM's live their whole careers hoping to draft a player with Beckham's all-time-great-like elite skills, and some fans here want to trade him or just let him go for more picks to hopefully acquire someone as skilled as Beckham.
Where is the logic in that?
I doubt I'll have the same passion for the Giants once Eli's gone, though.
Right now my favorite Giant is a tossup between Jackrabbit and Collins. But for the right compensation both could be had.
And on OPs pick of Harrison. You may be a very sad man in a week if what I’m hearing is true.
I feel once Eli's gone that my engagement as a fan is going to fall off.
The concussions, the money, the commercials, the injuries, the bullshit contracts, etc... it's getting hard to ignore the negatives of supporting the NFL.
I'll still follow, but I expect to take a step back as a fan.
The time before that was when Simms was benched for Hostetler.
I was pretty pissed when Shockey was traded, at least initially...until the details behind it came out and I realized it was for the best.
There really isn't anything that could happen now though, that would be a deal breaker. Odell is easily the best player on the team and I'm not really that attached to him.

I call shenanigans. He's the only true NT on the team, he's the best run stuffing DT in the NFL, he's a high character player and a hard worker. How do you even get fair value for him? Picks aren't going to do it, what are you going to hope you get a player as good as him? If the Giants field a team in 2018 Harrison is going to be on it.
I like the cut of your jib, sir.

Saquon Barkley. *grin*

Really? I get the talent but I just dont see a scenario where paying a WR that kind of $ when there are clear distraction problems is worth it. To each their own I guess.
They can lose without him and win without him.
Of the current crop of young guys Engram and Collins strike me as guys who have Giants DNA.
Pretty good list imho
players leaving early for the NBA is tough on kids too, I know explaining that to my boy has been tough sometimes
I think when Reggie Jackson left the Yankees when I was a kid is the one that hit me hard
this team could challenge for a superbowl with the right draft as they did in 2007 eli wins it and goes out at the top with more superbowl wins than peyton that would be the best way for his giants career to end and would make his HoF case iron clad first ballot
i am a giants fan i stayed a fan when simms left, and LT and strahan, its the team you follow not the individual players themselves snacks and OBJ would be bitter pills to lose but it wouldnt end me supporting them
If FANdom is PLAYERdom, you're a watcher, not a team fan.
If you stuck with with the Giants '64-'80+/-, you are a Fan.

It’s the nature of the beast sometimes that your favorite player may not always play for your favorite team. Anybody is moveable at the right price.

Simms never said it was the right move... He even spoke about it recently and how stunned he was because he was at the facility and throwing the ball really well. He said he had just tossed one 57 yards and didn't even air it out. Then Dan asks him to come to his office.
It's still one of the dumbest moves the franchise has ever made.
I think a better question, is what move would make you lose all faith in this administration?
I have a preference for defensive front 7 impact players nd running backs as my fave. We haven't had one of those truly awesome since Tuck/Osi/Strahan/Jacobs. Sorry JPP wasn't my cup of tea. Harrison could eventually.

yes. yes it was. Shocker. Especially after dumping Hos the year before. Dave Brown, kent Graham. Tommy Maddux. Really Dan?
So true. I hate saying it. Been like this a few seasons. Correlated to the Beckham era.
