Let's say the Giants are enamored with Allen, Darnold or Rosen and they have an opportunity to trade Eli to a team that he would accept and is in a win now mode. (all hypothetical)
What do you think that trade could return?
What does that do to the Giants cap this year?
Do you think the Giants would roll with a rookie QB that they thought could play right away?
Maybe the 2018 season would be an accepted mulligan in lieu of another high draft and being ready to roll in 2019? Thus molding a team with lots of picks and needed young talent to the philosophy of our GM and HC.
Let me state that I was OK with keeping Eli and warming to drafting Barkley/Nelson and then seeing what kind of damage the Giants could do. But now I am starting to cool on that front and think maybe its best to grab the QB and continue to infuse the team with talented draft picks over the next 2 drafts.
I know they are not trading Eli, but with the JPP trade, it has me thinking.
Even that feels generous. If a team had multiple 5s or 6s, maybe that would be worth the stretch...
He's a 37+ in the early stages of happy feet and declining arm strength...what's the prize?

I think a little better than that, but agree with the ballpark and sentiment, generally. Wouldn't make much sense. For anyone.
The only team I could see acquiring Eli for a year or two would be Denver, and they probably wouldn't give up any more than a 4/5th round pick due to Eli's salary.
Two things Bradford - he was only 28, and Minnesota was desperate and stupid.
Again, Eli is 37+. You are looking in the rear view mirror where objects appear larger than they are...
its hypothetical... not saying they are going to.. but how many people saw the JPP trade coming..
I think there is some buyers out there.. this is all for not because Eli has a no trade clause... but what if is what I am saying..
DG is doing things I have never expected to happen..

The answer is less than nothing.
Thrilly has been saying this for some time.
The market is ...zero. Even if you really, truly believe he's not in a clear decline, there are two insurmountable obstacles:
1. No trade clause
2. $40+M remaining on his contract
No team is gonna sign up for that, and the other 31 teams by now have a vet or bridge QB that they are equally comfortable with. And, equally important, QBs who have been paid (Keenum DEN, Bradford Arz, McCown/Teddy NYJ, Bortles JAX)
Eli Manning will either retire a Giants, or amicably force/accept his release in 2018 (not likely) or 2019 (almost definite).
what was the contract Bradford was on when he was traded?
So did Giancarlo Stanton and Carmelo Anthony. NTCs are negotiating points, plain and simple. But combined with Eli's age, the idea of leveraging the NTC to get an extension with a new team does make it much less likely. And the presence of the NTC means that if Eli did agree to a trade, he'd get to dictate what team(s) he'd be open to.
But "not an option"? That's not necessarily accurate.

Please post more often Thrilly Nelson.

That is not factually correct. Yes, he has a NTC but that just means that he has to agree to any trade. The remaining salary/bonuses combined for the 2018 and 2019 season is only $33M.
Eli's Contract - ( New Window )
I think we could get Guinness for Eli...
just sayin'...
