Giants will bring in UTEP G Will Hernandez before the draft for a visit, source says. Possible hog molly for Dave Gettleman to grab at the top of the second round. If he’s there, of course.
Doubt he'll be there at 34

Good players always drop

into the second round, especially guards and centers
Yes yes yes

use that extra 3rd to trade back into the 1st
Most mocks are all over the place when

You get towards the back half of the first/early 2nd. If there is indeed of OL going off the board around the early 20’s, I expect Hernandez to go I that area.

Considering the amount of money some of these FA OL are getting each year, it makes sense for some of these playoff caliber teams to get a cost controlled asset on the OL.
my 2nd favorite interior OL to Nelson

If NYG goes QB, RB or Edge in round 1, Hernandez is the target for round 2.
Hernandez, Wynn and Pryce
Andy in Boston : 3/23/2018 1:24 pm : link
will the top guards in that area of the draft I would hope 1 of these 3 would be there. Wynn and Price could also project to Center.
Hernandez isn’t getting out the 1st.
GoDeep13 : 3/23/2018 1:25 pm : link
He’d be a prime target for pick 22 if we traded back with the Bills though. Imagine a right side of McGlinchey at 12 and Hernandez at 22.
He’s got eagles
Tuckrule : 3/23/2018 1:26 pm : link
Written all over him. I love the guy but I don’t see him lasting until the second. One can hope.

One of those should be there as well as a chance for a good OT like Kolton Miller.
Short

arms, but that's usually less important at G. I also agree that he'll probably be gone by #34. Most teams need OL very badly.
For whatever it's worth ...
Stufftherun : 3/23/2018 1:28 pm : link
I believe Sy had Wynn ahead of Nelson but wanted to evaluate him a little more. Would be elated if we could nab anyone of the top G. The middle of the OL has been a lot less than stout and we all know Eli needs a secure/clean pocket.
The Giants are also

bringing in Rashaad Penny, the running back from San Diego State. He is a likely 2nd round or 3rd round selection.

Smart thinking. I like this idea a lot.
The exra 3rd round pick will be key
BigBlue1013 : 3/23/2018 1:30 pm : link
If the Giants like Isaiah Wynn, Will Hernandez, Mike McClingchey and those guys are around mid to late 20s We can give away that 3rd round pick just to move up into late 1st.
Hernandez is

The road grading type of guard Gettleman would go for.

I'll through this out there. In a trade down scenario with the Bills, what about Marcus Davenport at 12 and Hernandez at 22?
That extra
ryanmkeane : 3/23/2018 1:37 pm : link
3rd is going to be awesome for us. Either way, we get a highly graded player at that slot or we trade back into the 1st for a starting caliber OL.

Penny in the 2nd would be way too high

My favorite Interior OL in the Draft. If we end up picking around 22 he would be on my short list.
This is exactly how we should address Guard
UConn4523 : 3/23/2018 1:44 pm : link
use assets to move up, we have ammo. Don’t use #2.
I'm a big fan of the Souther Border Wall.
Diver_Down : 3/23/2018 1:46 pm : link
Not just as a road grader, but he has a low center of gravity which allows him to win the leverage game and stonewall pass rushing defenders. He gets his hands on the defender and it is over. He is an immovable mountain of a man. I saw him from behind in the drills in Mobile, and at first I thought I was seeing the old school horse-collar neck roll. Upon closer examination, it was his own neck roll that was protruding from his pads. The man's traps could block defenders by themselves.

Despite having a terrific combine, I do believe he'll be there at the top of the 2nd as I suspect scouts will hold the level of competition at El Paso against him.
Hoping Billy Price drops out of the 1st round
GiantJake : 3/23/2018 2:08 pm : link
Shurmur knew just what to do with OSU C/G Pat Elflein last year and many have OSU C/G Billy Price rated even better this year. Having Brett Jones at center would allow Price to work his way in at either position and provide another solid OL building block moving forward.

I'd love that.
What is the Price injury
Harvest Blend : 3/23/2018 2:21 pm : link
situation like? I've seen 4 months and read something else that called BS on that. Do you guys think he drops because of the pec?
This is the guy I wasn't in the 2nd assuming he's still available
DennyInDenville : 3/23/2018 2:38 pm : link
Really elite prospect imo. Top 5-10 Guard for 5-10 years

If his injury keeps him out of training camp, then he'll start the season on PUP and won't be able to come back by Week 8. If that ends up being the case, then his rookie year will be a red shirt year. I would hate to use the 2nd round pick on a red shirt. If he falls to the top of the third, then I would consider it. But there is no chance of that happening. It all depends on the medical eval.

Davenport doesnt seem like a 3-4 end or OLB. At all. But Id be somewhat okay with this
There will be a very good interior OL there at 34
AcesUp : 3/23/2018 3:05 pm : link
Hernandez, Wynn, Daniels and Price (if healthy) are potential plug and play guys with some position versatility. We should have a choice of 2-3 at our pick. Wynn is interesting to me because I think he could serve as a hedge to Flowers at RT.
If per chance he does last to the second round
Biteymax22 : 3/23/2018 3:28 pm : link
We'll all find out how fast Gettleman can run the 40 because he will sprint to the podium with the card. Don't think he's there though, someone will take him in the 20's.
He may be there at 22
Reale01 : 3/23/2018 5:03 pm : link
Just sayin'

R Smith @ 12 and W Hernandez @ 22 is a nice start. Especially if they are followed by 3 or 4 2nd round picks.
If we stay pat at 2
TommyWiseau : 3/23/2018 8:28 pm : link
and take Barkley or a QB I wlike uld not mind using the 3rd rounder to move up into the late first if Hernandez is still there. Guy is a monster
I would be surprised if the 2nd round pick isn't an OL
Jay on the Island : 3/23/2018 9:22 pm : link
Not because of need but because there will surely be at least one worth offensive lineman available at 34. At least one player out of Price, Hernandez, Wynn, Miller, and Daniels will be available. I would even consider Orlando Brown if available. He had a disastrous combine but he reportedly did very well in interviews and the tape shows that he should be a very good to great RT or G in the NFL. His versatility would come in handy on a rebuilt offensive line.
I think one of Hernandez/Wynn will be there at #34
Torrag : 3/24/2018 12:17 am : link
If Nelson isn't the pick fully expect one of these two in the 2nd round.
