and my third favorite QB in this draft (along with Rosen and Darnold).
I will say though...if Shurmur checks out all three QBs up close and personal, after also (no doubt) watching hours and hours of game tape...and Shurmur thinks Allen is THE guy...who am I to disagree?
All 4 of these QBs are outstanding prospects with very real chances of becoming long-term studs. Allen isn't the prettiest - he really slugs it out on the field - but you're probably getting a Big Ben-type QB if you go the Allen route, and that's damn good.
To me the comparisons are this:
Darnold - Favre/Luck
Allen - Big Ben
Mayfield - Russell Wilson
Rosen - a cross between Eli and Peyton, with a bigger arm
This QB class was initially hyped, then it looked like it was overhyped, and now as the dust settles....it's elite. Probably won't see 4 prospects like this in the same class in a loooooong time.
I love Webb and would personally gamble on him and pass on a QB, but these 4 guys are elite prospects, all with entirely different skillsets.
It's a legit question, i wasn't trying to be a wise ass. Is it based on college film that you have watched? Because there isn't anything to look at of him with the Giants

Assuming same thing, same reason he feels the 4 current are Elite. College tape. And there is nothing wrong with feeling that way about Webb.
Big tough guy with a big arm who has been compared to John Elway athletically. He will have time to develop behind ELI/Webb while DG builds up the rest of the team.
I can imagine this call back to Jints Central about Allen today... Â
Shurmur: "Dave, this guys is the real deal..."
DG: "I watched it on NFL Network. Phenomenal."
(A muffled John Mara in the background - "Hey Dave. You and Shurms just the f-ck up. Eli is hear to stay for the next five. I don't know why we wasted money sending Shurms out there today!...")
Shurmur: "What's that in the background?"
DG: "John. He just got off his Friday conference call with Archie, Condon, Peyton, Cooper, and Livia."
Shurmur: "Ah, f-ck it. I'm on the way back...send me the Nelson file again, please..."
it would be a firing offense for them not to. They are grading the players just like every other team. I would expect them to meet with and send reps to every workout for every player they are looking at. Can you imagine if they took a RB, LB, DE, DB, or a Guard without thoroughly grading all of the prospects? This is normal stuff it doesnt mean anything.
don’t like any of these QBs yet it seems the rest of the league does? It’s either smokescreen or I wonder if Mara has told them no QB after the fan blow up over Eli getting benched.

And if that is the case then please sell the team Mr.Mara.

i know you’re joking, but it’s extremely unlikely that DG will draft specifically to accommodate he chooses an option other than QB it’s 100% on his feeling of the merits of the QB or alternative players. Maybe it’s the wrong decision but it’s almost certainly his own.
DG and PS thinking they can find a QB who can run the offense without using this pick with so many top prospects available. Maybe they take a QB im not saying they wont, but this idea that they HAVE TO take a QB with this pick is silly.
Was it not Mara that directed the scouts to hard eval the college QBs? He knows it’s an opportunity you can’t pass up.
Sort of. That was on the heels of GenoGate. Mara was feeling real heat from the fan base, and his mind was all over the place.
I think he's playing both sides here - trying to be loyal to the base who just adores Eli no matter what; and trying to please the base who thinks its time to really hit the accelerator and find a QB solution for the future, especially with such a rare, high pick...
Let's face it, there is a real divide here between the customer base...
But I wish Jets or Broncos get worried and offer something to trade up a couple of spots if the Giants aren't taking a QB.

Your evaluation of him when?
