I'll be happy with whomever is the selection

The Giants need an infusion of talent at many levels on this team. Blind loyalty aside, DG seems to be making good decisions on paper, and I think he has earned the benefit of the doubt thus far on constructing this roster.

With that said, the Giants could use talent upgrades at RB, DE, O-Line, S, CB, LB etc... As well as having the opportunity to add the future QB of this team as they see fit (if there is indeed a prospect that they love). Not only that, but seeing as there are several holes in the roster, a trade down for a haul of picks would be a move I'd consider wise as well.

Seeing the angst in some of these posts is a little odd to me. In my opinion, most of the routes DG can go with this pick excites me. Adding one of Nelson/Chubb/Barkley/ Fitzpatrick is great because it should instantly upgrade that positional group. Adding one of Darnold/Rosen/Allen is exciting because it means they see something in a guy that leads them to believe they have the heir apparent to Manning. A trade down would be great, as extra picks can compete and upgrade multiple units on the team.

I guess I'm just trying to convey that this is a really fun offseason, and that one shouldn't get too down with the pick or the direction DG is trying to go. I think too much is being made of rebuild vs retool, who we need to trade (eyeroll) and positional value, rather than the fact, in all likelihood, we will be adding a talented player to our talent-needy team. Have fun with discussing schemes and player possibilities, but don't get up in arms if the team goes againtst your line of thinking, as there are multiple roads to success. In the end, I believe which ever direction DG chooses to go will help the Giants now and in the immediate future.
i feel this way too

yes i want barkley or darnold at 2, but i would be 100% okay in a trade back for nelson or id be nervous but fine with rosen and allen as both seem to be talented passers. my only remote throwers are chubb at 2, trade up to 1, fitzpatrick at 2.

just about anything else within reason is good with me....

that being said im staying at 2 and taking darnold or barkley but thats me
me too
Frankie in Flushing : 3/23/2018 2:57 pm : link
There is a ton of talent for us to grab at 2.
I think my only "remote thrower"

would be trading up to 1. Anything else I can live with, but I feel like you do not need to spend draft capital moving up 1 spot. I'm fine with Chubb as I know the value the Giants place on pass rushers, and some experts are comparing him favorably to Myles Garrett, last year's number 1 overall selection.

I know the Giants are doing their due diligence on all of these guys and, aside from trading up, I don't see how Gettleman messes up this pick. We need talent everywhere.
Honestly, I think too many fans
Keaton028 : 3/23/2018 3:03 pm : link
are latching on to one player, and thinking the Giants have failed by not picking their guy. I understand it. But, there exists some talented players at the top of this draft, and I'd be happy to pick any of them.
couldn't agree more
Chip : 3/23/2018 3:11 pm : link
just find a guy who can play and not fail.
It doesn't matter who the pick is. Many will be happy
carpoon : 3/23/2018 3:13 pm : link
and many will be unhappy.
To me the most important component to all of this
Keaton028 : 3/23/2018 3:14 pm : link
is the staff we now have in place. I believe a more stable environment has been created with DG, Shurmur, Bettcher, Shula, McGaughey (sp?) and the like....These are all guys with experience within their respective roles, and I think that will make a world of difference in the locker room. We hired guys, like Shurmur, to pick and develop young talent for this team. Now we need to let them operate.

Agreed.
I have a ton of hope invested in Davis Webb
Keaton028 : 3/23/2018 3:35 pm : link
But, I still won't be upset if the Giants choose a QB. Options are a great thing, and the probability that one of them will develop into a decent starter under Shula and Shurmur increases that much more. I just don't believe there is a wrong direction to go in.
For me, there are no remote throwers among the
Beer Man : 3/23/2018 4:45 pm : link
most talked about scenarios.
- QB (Darnold / Rosen)
- Barkley
- Chubb
- Trade back

Where I would have a problem is if they pulled an EA and go for a reach at #2 (like Allen), or trade back too far (or trade back and don't receive an overwhelming cache of picks). I want to see a perennial all-star and possible HoFer; and there are a few players that meet that criteria.
I m hoping Darnold
joeinpa : 3/23/2018 5:14 pm : link
Or Allen.

But understand them passing on quarterback. Just hope they don t select at two a guy they could trade down and get.

Also no trading out of top 6

I agree, but I'd be shocked if they do trade down even a few spots.
Gave up fallling in love with a pre-draft player long ago

makes you angry when the Giants don't pick your player, and the player you loved is then the enemy.
I agree, Darnold and Barkley
Knee of Theismann : 3/23/2018 7:46 pm : link
are the two clear-cut elite prospects. Nelson is the third but not taking a guard at #2. It is kind of funny to feel like you have to make the decision: Franchise QB or Most Explosive/Dynamic player in the draft? And essentially we're saying here that we're letting the Browns make that decision for us. But I'm still okay with it.
I dont know

DG has been GM for 5 minutes.

He doesn't get the benefit of the doubt at this point.. not yet.

We are building,,and I am hoping he is smart and prepared.

I want the running back Barkley but what do I know?
In 1979 a new GM by the name of George Young made his first ever
baadbill : 3/24/2018 9:17 am : link
draft selection for the New York Giants. The draft crowd went nuts with a chorus of WHO? Phil Simms was not expected to be a top ten pick (a guy by the name of the Throwin Samoan was the top rated QB on most fans draft boards that year).

I loved the pick. Not because I knew anything about Simms. I didn't follow college ball and never heard of Simms. I loved the pick because I knew George Young was highly regarded and I didn't have the conceit to believe I knew better than one of the top 32 football minds on planet earth.

The same thing holds true this coming April.
Jack Thompson I believe
NikkiMac : 3/24/2018 12:47 pm : link
The throwing Samoan Him Simms Montana Bill Walsh, Ray Perkins all connected to that draft .....
