Would rookies be more useful if the draft were held earlier?

It seems like the CBA has reduced actual practice time to such a degree that giving the rookies extra time to study playbook and get classroom instruction would be helpful.

Giving rookies more time to learn the pro system seems so obvious that if the NFL hasn't done it, it would probably not be useful.
Yeah the wait

Are you forgetting that many, if not most, are finishing up the semester in college?

mentioning this same exact thing to a friend of mine. I definitely think they should look into moving the draft up and give the rookies more time with their teams and get ready for the preseason. Would ultimately help in getting them ready alot sooner
yeah.....they are really worried about their mid terms

it will just give more power to the non-school schools (sec) and harder to recruit for real schools

pass on that idea
I think the teams would not be in favor of that

Between the Super Bowl in early February and the draft in late April say you have 2.5 months. In that time you have to have the Combine and all the Pro days. Then you have free agency where teams will be determining their draft needs. Not to mention the teams just analyzing all the data and coming up with their big board. Also throw in the annual league meeting. It seems like the right amount of time.
I think the draft was moved to the end of April

to split the time between when one season ends and the next season begins. I think it was the owners attempt to keep the league more relevant during the off-season.
might also deprive rookies
