I bought a Playstation for this game and every year, despite less time to play, it provides unmatched sports videogaming good-times.
Anyone else pre-order and setting aside some time this weekend?
Biggest noteable changes:
Improved ball physics and better animations
Batting stance editor and creator
No more Reynolds in the booth - De Rosa takes over
more user friendly modes and changes to make the game more jump-in-and-play.
MLB the Show 18 - Twitch streams - (
New Window )
I have a question though: is anyone getting sick of the player models? I can't shake the fact that they almost look 'midgety.' I know that is not even a word but does anyone else feel that way?
The game in general looks great but the player models are killing me lately-they are just not fluid. Can't put my finger on exactly how to describe it but at rest, its almost like they look like they can't lift their arms above their shoulders.
I'm checking into that now. I have a new OLED 4K tv and i'm trying to get the best looking settings. I prefer smooth over sharp so far. Haven't noticed a big graphics drop.
Dear lord is it easier to navigate the menus.

It doesn't bug me too much. With the ability to edit the batting stances this year I can fix the graphical issue that bugged me the most - wrong batting stances.
I do think the models are improved this year slightly.
I never played the online franchise but would have tried it this year. Newborn at home will mean time at night for some gaming. Sucks that they couldn't get it in but i'm told they were trying to work out the issues right up until they sent the game for printing.

not having online franchise this year. I’ve run a real fun league the past 2 years, and my group of guys were so pumped for ‘18, only to find out 3 weeks before release that they did not include online franchise this year. SDS said that they had to overhaul the coding in order to not have the server issues of the past, and there was no time to include online franchise. The hardcore online franchise guys are very disappointed.

Yea it stinks. The mode was actually glitchy and recycled from year to year, totally ignored, but it was still loved by the guys who played it. At least SDS owned up, unlike EA, who removed online franchise from the NHL series by citing it was played by such a small percentage of users. The NHL and MLB online franchises were so good...now we are stuck with just Madden CFM.
