In the statement, Beckham's legal team also claims Mr. Temple arrived at the party drunk, belligerent and made threats to several attendees ... at which point he was repeatedly asked to leave. They claim he was repeatedly asked to leave, and got into a fight -- but NOT with Odell -- and was then escorted off the premises.

They point out, Temple himself says Odell wasn't involved in the physical altercation -- but they claim he demanded money from Odell.

Davillier added, “This guy claims somebody assaulted him to near death, but there’s no police report, no hospital record, no evidence of an actual injury, and he asserts that Odell is responsible. This is clearly a frivolous lawsuit. We’ll see him in court.”

I always wonder how bogus lawsuits can be punished. Can you countersue and make an example of them?

receiver, and likes to make it all about himself, is kind of a douche, i always hated those types of guys on other teams and it's questionable whether you can win with guys who bring that vibe to the team culture. TO, dez, randy moss, ochocinco, desean jackson.. the league is littered with talented douchebag WRs who never won a SB. of course there are exceptions like irvin, and even burress (though he derailed the 2008 season with his bullshit). o'hara even made reference to this when he was on joe and evan.

odell is a top 3 receiver in the league so you put up with it more than you would from a forked randy moss, but it is definitely an issue. how big of an issue is a matter of perception, with his apologists minimizing the ill effect, and his haters exaggerating it. but he definitely seems to be living some kind of 3rd rate r&b star/douche athlete type of lifestyle. hopefully he grows out of it ASAP.

if gettleman subscribes to the "don't quit on talent" mantra he claimed @ his presser, then maybe the giants try and reign odell in like the steelers did with ben after the rape in the nightclub bathroom kerfufle in 2010 (his second rape allegation, i believe). sit him down, tell him you're getting older and it to settle the fuck down, throw a wife at him, tell him to settle down and start a family. ben was already into his second contract when that went down though and odell is younger so it's a difference circumstance

I wish people like you would be able to separate what is actually Odell and what is media-driven bullshit, but apparently you just can't. BTW you don't 'reign' someone in. Nowhere in your almost unintelligible post do you have a thought that perhaps Odell isn't doing shit and you are just succumbing to a bunch of click-bait fake controversies about him? Hmmm?

What's a douchebag? Is OBJ a douchebag, or is it people who call others douchebags without any cause?

Here's a list of OBJ's transgressions:

He speared Josh Norman after Norman had threatened him and baited him in the pre-game and during the game. Showed immaturity in losing his cool but took his punishment and owned up to his responsibility, then worked to improve.

Slammed his helmet into a kicking net, which rebounded and hit him in the face. BFD.

Trolled the media for their obsession with him and the kicking net by proposing to it, which was weird, but he was trolling them and they didn't even get the joke (because it was on them). BFD.

Went on a boat trip during a day off with some teammates in Miami. Again, BFD.

He hasn't slammed his teammates, he hasn't lolligagged or blew off practice, by all accounts he's a hard-worker, a great teammate, an ultimate competitor, and extremely passionate about winning.

It's not his fault the media is almost as obsessed with him as they are the Kardashians. He is nothing like T.O., Dez, or Randy Moss or those other guys, all who were at times bad teammates, bad locker room guys, who would quit on their team, some of them getting into off-field trouble/trouble with the law. None of that has happened with OBJ.

So some idiot is suing him. SO WHAT. If you had Odell money and were as famous as him I guarantee you would be sued. You don't have to do anything wrong to get sued, ok? Now see if you kind find a clue. OBJ is a great player and I'm glad to watch him on the Giants and hope he's here for a long time.
Everyone who hates this man...
OBJ_AllDay : 3/23/2018 11:58 pm : link
Is the reason the giants have no home field advantage. It’s all the “down in front” crowd that hate this man for a little dancing and energy that doesn’t sync with their old school ways. The kids never failed a drug test, never been arrested and is considered the hardest worker n the practice field but some people want to make him out to be some sort of inmate. They ignore the antics of kelce, the fistfights of aj geeen Andre Johnson and countless others and want to make this guy public enemy #1 for one incident with Norman and cause he celebrates touchdowns. These fans don’t recognize greatest of all time potential staring themselves right in the face and it’s baffling...

Ps the media witch hunt of him is incredible..

jfc dude. i can see you feel really strongly about defending odell's honor. im not even saying i want him off the team. i just dont want him making a spectacle of himself and getting personal fouls and making himself a target. but he's a diva wideout as much as the giants have ever had. how can anyone not see that?

gettleman himself has commented that the boat trip was a dick move. and odell shit the bed that game. call it the first playoff game jitters or whatever, but he came up small in the biggest game of his career. gettleman's also commented negatively about players getting into shit by dicking around with social media. go listen to o'hara's spot on joe and evan. he intimates at some of the same type of shit.

and yea, it's disingenuous and borderline retarded to say that if i had all that money i'd be sued too. the majority of NFL players don't get sued by shady assholes who show up to their epic house parties.

odell is one of the best players on the team, and among the best at his position, and yes, he can be a bit of a diva headcase. but yea, i'm not definitely not "succumbing to click-bait fake controversies about him", thanks.

Isn't someone suing Eli Manning at this very moment? Wasn't Michael Strahan accused of both taping his sister in law changing clothes in his home AND having a gay affair with a TV doctor during his very public divorce battle?

It seems like there's people out to get all of these guys and sometimes the "assholes" are people they were married to.

You can quote whoever you want, it's still dumb as hell to even pretend to offended that a football player did something on his personal time before a scheduled off day with no team activities a full 7 days before the next game

There's some kind of weird manical thinking at play that people continue to be bent about that. Or they're just completely ignoring the facts to excuse their need to whine about something.
Just to point out
Emil : 3/24/2018 3:24 am : link
Josh Mauro uses performance enhancing drugs, gets suspended for four games for a team he has yet to take a snap for, and it ruffles a few feathers. After all, Mauro is a virtual nobody to this fan base.

Eagles DE Michael Bennet has a warrant out for his arrest for allegedly harming a paraplegic. And it gets a mention. The same Michael Bennett who lied about what cops did to him in Vegas.

OBJ is being sued by some guy (who was drunk and allegedly belligerent at OBJs house during a house party) because the star wide receiver’s body guard may have gotten rough with him. Oh, the Giants can’t possibly pay OBJ, he’s a distraction. Trade him for picks.

This league is full of players who do terrible and stupid things. But aside from the incident with Norman, what has OBJ really done that is detrimental to the team? Mauro will serve a suspension 4x the length of any OBJ has served. And I bet he still makes the team out of camp. Bennett is charged with intentionally harming a paraplegic. OBJ gets accused of starting a fight in Georgia, while he is actually sitting at home.

Now OBJs body guard does his job a little too aggressively, and this somehow means OBJ shouldn’t be a Giant long term? So I guess that memorabilia scandal should be the end of Eli too. And you certainly can’t have that Strahan guy around, who didn’t report to camp and called out his head coach in a press conference, while that head coach was burying his mother.

The media and some of the fan base are just obsessed with this guy. Quite frankly, ever since the Norman incident some have just been waiting for OBJ to blow up again, so we get coverage of him banging his head against a wall and a weeks worth of discussion of his sideline romance with a kicking net. Does anyone remember Gronk deliberately hitting a DB after the whistle and giving him a concussion last year? Or Cam Newtons press conference where he dismissed the idea that female reporters would know anything about routes? Or just about anything that Vontez Burfect has done? Nope, focus on OBJ. His very existence is a distraction. Now down in front and be quiet while we watch big blue grind out 3 yds a carry, win the field position battle, and play good sound defense.
People never learn to keep a low profile.

By putting yourself in situations like this you will always be a target and hence forced to defend yourself (legally) which will eventually drain your bank account whether you win or lose.

odell is 25 and will turn 26 in the middle of this season. hopefully he's at the very least realized the importance of not pissing like a dog during end zone celebrations and drawing personal fouls and making himself a target for officials and other players more generally. apparently his dicking around on social media and coming up embarrassingly small in the GB playoff game (but giggling like a tweenage girl taking shirtless selfies in the cold pre-game) are non-issues for most fans and anyone who thinks differently is being an old curmudgeon.

i could give a shit that someone is suing him and don't think it's evidence that the sky is falling. i like him as a player i just think he'd be an even better asset to the team if he opted to grow the fuck up a bit. o'hara even mentioned odell makes it all about himself, first and foremost.

he's also missed 4 games his rookie season with injury, 1 game his second season, and 12 games last year with the broken ankle (was targeted in the browns preseason game) so he's not exactly been the picture of perfect health during his time with the team either.

You have no idea the amount of times people with money and Fame get sued frivolously. You are a Giants fan, a big one if you are here, and the defendant is OBJ, so you are hearing about it. Regardless, he lives in a fishbowl and the media can't get enough of him.

And so what OBJ had a bad game. Everyone has a bad game. He's still one of the great talents in the history of this franchise.

The boat thing was inadvisable, but he didn't do it alone, it was their day off, and it was a way bigger story than it should've been. He didn't beat up a hooker, ffs. You are probably one of the ones who thinks his bad game can be directly tied to the boat trip the weekend prior, huh? Pull your head out of your ass. You don't like he has a personality and is a star. So what. Let him be himself, as long as he's doing his job. He is young and part of a generation that grew up differently. But he still works hard and is a great teammate. I think you forgot what a diva is. A diva is all about himself to the detriment of the football team. OBJ, despite losing self-control on the field sometimes, something he has gotten better at not doing, is not a detriment, he's an unbelievable player with a great work ethic and a good young man overall. He's not perfect, the boat trip was a mistake, but he has learned from it.

People like you are the reason some people say "fuck it, why should I try so hard when ai can't win."

You are slandering him without cause.

obj missing games with injury is absolutely a concern, in addition to the on-field antics. he missed almost the entire season last year. i realize it was a broken bone and he is likely to bounce back 100% after he knocks the rust off, but obj has missed a lot of games in his career here.

and yes, i am one of those who believes the boat trip and the pre-game antics were both indicative of a lack of focus in that game. and punching a hole in the lockerroom wall post-game and banging his head against the door is indicative of the fact that he's a bit of an immature headcase.

i don't hate beckham like you seem to think, but yea, he's not my favorite giant. anyway, it's apparent you have quite the man-crush on him, given the "oh no he didn't..." tone of your responses here, whereas i'm a bit more critical and detached. if you want to be uncritical and celebratory and defend his honor like he's your wife or special needs little brother though, that's certainly your prerogative, dude. have at it.

i don't hate beckham like you seem to think, but yea, he's not my favorite giant. anyway, it's apparent you have quite the man-crush on him, given the "oh no he didn't..." tone of your responses here, whereas i'm a bit more critical and detached. if you want to be uncritical and celebratory and defend his honor like he's your wife or special needs little brother though, that's certainly your prerogative, dude. have at it.

That’s was my point earlier in the thread. Guys like japanhead are absolute disasters in life, yet they feel empowered to criticize others for not being perfect in all phases of life. It’s hysterical. It’s pathetic to hold others to higher standards that you hold yourself to, especially when those others have actually, you know, been extremely successful at their professions.

dude, i'm a fan. if beckham takes a PF for mimicking a dog pissing after he scores a TD, he deserves criticism. he's a 5th year pro at this point. come on now.

He's only been penalized 16 times in his entire career (for any penalties) and only 4 times in his career for unsportsmanlike conduct.

People act like he's a flag magnet when he's really not. But just like everything else negative related to him, it's blown out of proportion because he sells papers, and most fans are too naïve to realized they're being played by the media.

dude, i watch the games, and the only sports media i consume is BBI. i'm not being naive. i see what i see. a super talented, game-changing type player who is often his own worst enemy. he's settled down a lot since the first couple of years of his career and i give him credit for that. he's still got a bit of a ways to go. i'm not the first or only to have made these observations. shit, others in the giants organization have made many of the same points.
Here is the deal with OBJ...
bw in dc : 3/24/2018 1:27 pm : link
For whatever reason, in his control or out of his control, the guy is a magnet for controversy.

It's become a pattern and it's likely never going away. So the drama will always have to be managed...

I would trade the guy - less about these instances - because I don't think he's worth the money ask. I'd rather have a larger stable of solid, cheaper receivers - like Minnesota, New England, Saints, Philly, Green Bay, etc.

He is not a magnet fr controversy, he is magnet for clicks, so papers immediately write about him..

Perfect example, pat Leonard had an article about how the jpp trade means they can trade beckham,it is complete bullshit but he probably got a bunch of clicks because people like you eat it up...

The lawsuit says he had nothing to do with it, so how is that controversey?

No, I'm pretty critical, as was said you are just baited by the media...duped. You can't see how fortunate we are to have a talent like him. That's your problem. I don't have a man-crush, I can actually see the historic nature of his first several seasons here...arguably the best start to a career for a WR of all-time, and only Randy Moss even has an argument. He's irreplaceable you dum-dum.

You have literally become the biggest fucking moron on BBI. Let that sink in for a minute as you look at some of the past numb nuts we've had polluting the forum with their stupidity.
FU too . Think he is a problem and I am entitled to my opinion. Thats what we are here for right? We are not supposed to attack other posters because we disagree. But assholes, like you never follow protocol, do they?

The "it" factor means so much but the many, many times teammates have supported Odell and said how hard he works, that he was the first person to call, or that they have no problem with him just floats through the ears.

Believe all that's true and he is a special talent right up there with LT and Plaxico but NYC is a big distraction for many, Hope he works it out.

So OBJ is just a victim of bad luck? Ignore all the bad luck - simulating a dog pissing, beating up a punting net and the proposing to it, spearing defenseless players, emotional break downs on the sidelines, etc - and shift the blame to the jerk offs in the media?

Is that the mindset?

So him being mad on the sideline is a bad thing? Him getting mad the team is losing is a bad thing?

The dog pissing and the spearing I will not defend...

The kicking net was friggin joke, you seriously think it was that bad

Here is what OBJ is - the most physically gifted WR I’ve ever seen and a personality type that will perpetually wreak havoc on a team.

And if you think that’s going to change, I fear you’re as delusional as he is.

If Jints Central pays him what he wants, buckle in because the odds are on my side things get even worse...
