4 “Can’t Miss QB Prospects” that teams spent a lot of time deliberating over;
•. Cam Newton
•. Blaine Gabbert
•. Christian Ponder
•. Jake Locker
They were touted as can’t miss franchise changing QBs at the time. Teams who drafted at the non QB position reaped all kinds of talent.
I’m sorry but no. The only one considered a franchise QB was Cam Newton. The only thing similar about this current draft to that one is that a bunch of QBs will be drafted highly-but the opinions on them were nowhere near what they are for the top 2-3 this year.
But he’s been under the tutelage of the Wizard - Dante Scarnecchia. And that guy can make some serious chicken salad....
That's a good point about the position coach.
Thrill takes solace in knowing the Pats made a huge push to resign Solder, offering a similar prodigious contract. Not a case where they actively dismiss a player who unsurprisingly flops in an expanded role on a different team.
Also, unlike other Scarn success stories, Solder was a top pick. And pardon me DaddyM but here is actual inside info: someone The Org loved coming out but missed by two picks. We ended up with another very highly graded player, Prince Amukamara.
Obvi our longitudinal pro scouting methods have continued to identify Solder as a valuable player. Certainly much better than Ereck Flowers.
He's also a top notch character guy and that is significant for an OL room that has to eradicate some unhappy campers this offseason.
The guy beat cancer and came back to play the same season. But yeah -- he's never gotten postseason accolades so F him.
Doesn’t make him a poor left tackle
That’s not how it works

If you're talking about his draft class, Nick Fairley was drafted 13th and hasn't been an all-pro or a pro Bowler.
Are you looking for some random info to throw shade on Solder, and if so it would be nice to at least be fucking competent in the criticism.
Love ya big man.

This and I'm sure there are more.
