I don’t believe the Giants are actively shopping Odell Beckham, but at the same time I don’t think the Giants are ready to commit to Beckham at this time by giving him his new mega deal (how Beckham responds to this remains to be seen). I am sure teams have called Dave Gettleman about the possibility of trading for Odell Beckham Jr.
If a team offered Gettleman the kind of deal he can’t refuse, I could see a trade being a possibility. (Which is what I suspect happened with Jason Pierre-Paul).
The real question is which teams would try to make the deal that we can’t refuse?
I could see the LA Rams making a strong play for Odell Beckham. Les Snead has been active so far this offseason, they have decent cap room (spotrac has the Ram currently having a touch over $35m in cap room) and Sammy Watkins left without replacement. Beckham would certainly add an extra dimension to Sean McVay’s offense. The LA market would probably be a good fit for Odell as well. McVay will also be very familiar with Odell from his time at the Redskins.
What other teams do you think would be willing to try to trade for Beckham?
What kind of deal do you think it would take for Gettleman to consider trading Odell?
In other words, it ain't happening..
Personally dislike Odell--- but....amazing talent and production would make Me want to extend Him at big bucks, bit neeed to see the goods first.
I Predict big drama on his contract front....this year.
We should remember that Gettleman made the business decision to rescind Josh Norman's franchise tag outright. Norman wanted $15-16m a year when the Panthers were willing to pay $11-12m a year for a long term deal. Norman wouldn't budge and so Gettleman moved on.
Odell is reportedly wanting a $20m+ a year deal ($3m a year more than Antonio Brown, the next top WR). If Gettleman isn't willing to pay that and Odell isn't willing to budge with his demands, a long term deal isn't going to happen. Sure we have Beckham potentially locked up on one year deal this year and franchise tag next year, but Beckham wants his long term deal now and probably won't react well if he doesn't get it.
I do think Beckham could be moved should the right offer came along.
I also don't see Beckham's injury being a major issue, he seems to be doing really well in his recovery. I would expect he will be able to pass physicals in the near future (if not already).
No doubt there will be offers on the table. It will be interesting if any are strong enough for Gettleman to consider pulling the trigger.
What we do know is that Gettleman plays his cards close to his chest.
If Gettelman is serious about rebuilding the 'culture' he'll have to at least listen to offers. The Giants must be seething internally about his recent 'photo op' only weeks after ushering in the new regime and having a 'conversation' with this guy about doing things 'the right way'.
Even if there is no long term plan to keep OBJ, he plays for the Giants in 2018.
Good point.
Realistically it really doesn't matter what Beckham's 'value' or 'price' is. One of two things will happen.
1. Gettleman gets an offer for Odell that he believes would be in the best interest for the Giants to pull the trigger.
or
2. Odell is a Giant this season playing under his fifth year option.
I don't expect a scenario where Beckham is extended this year.

For someone who supposedly dislikes Odell, you sure write about Him like He's God.
OBJ isn't going anywhere.

Excellent use of the Oxford comma in your link!

that he made regarding OBJ. He made some salient points that are likely to be overlooked as the thread title specifically addresses Flowers. And of course in typical BBI fashion, the thread devolved into a discussion on grammar/punctuation. O'Hara comments on Flowers, OBJ, and The Draft - ( New Window )

Is that wrong? I presume you are referring to the second comma preceding 'and'. It is how I remember being taught decades ago in school. Of course, I'm old and can't remember what I ate last night.

Some will say it's wrong and others will say it's right. I'm personally in favor of it, particularly when you're listing distinct items like you did. I was being sincere about the excellent usage; just wanted to add some grammar to this thread.
Not knowing the cap landscape for all teams, and using the baseline above, the Jints should be able to fetch something in the neighborhood of a middle to high first rounder and a second rounder. I think Cooks s a very good receiver but less production and talent than OBJ.
I’d personally do that in a heartbeat. OBJ is not worth QB money. He’s arguably not worth Antonio Brown money. It’s abundantly clear around the league you can be very competitive with a core group of solid receivers than having these ultra-diva types. See Minnesota. See the Pats. See the Saints. See the Packers. See the Eagles. And on and on....
Practices hard, plays hard, plays hurt. Targeted by many defenses with cheap shots late hits. Doesn't get the calls many lesser wrs get.
Think the cheap shots got into his head a little bit. This is where your team leaders on offense have to be avenging angels. See who is leading the attacks on OBJ. Then knock the living shit out of them even if its a late hit. I'm not just talking a "decleater" - I talking as he gets up off the ground he's tucking his colon back into his rectum. Then whisper in the downed defender's ear - there's more where that came from - you keep up the bullshit, I'll eat as many flags as I have to to make it stop.
Then you walk over to OBJ and say "Calm down, I got your back."

Gianst latest woes are about more than just talent. Giants need a heatthy does of crazed dog. In recent history, our OLine is probably the closest thing we had to that (Diehl, Snee, OHara, McKenzie, & Seubert).
Think about this for a second, waht do you think LT would have done when that scrub from the Panthers walked over and threatened OBJ with a bat?
They will be 25-32 most likely this season.
I'm sure DG will listen if its a knock your socks off, because it better be; OBJs warts and all.

Hello Quenton Nelson
So, not until he physically gets larger then?
And Eli is certainly much more productive when he isn't on the field. Go check the stats.
Who the hell needs those dramatic 8-yard slants that turn into 75 yard touchdowns. We are much better off working the down/distance methodically down the field under our strong O-line...
In other words, it ain't happening..
Unless that team is drafting top 10 or 15, not interested.
Trade him? Why the hell would we do that?
Quote:
I still do but he is too valuable to trade and is the only player that we have who is a game changer.
Not if we take Barkley .
Yeah, who would want two dynamic playmakers?!
I'd be ecstatic to have one OBJ and zero TMS.
